It is very hard to quit. I started smoking at 20, not to join a crowd, because only 1 out of the crowd smoked. You know, just sitting around bored, puffing away at one or two. Well, it's now 5 years later, and I'm still puffing away. It's a pack a day habit now. Tried to quit a few times. The most successful time was last year, at around thanksgiving. Was able to stop for 2 weeks, only had like 1 or 2 a day to calm the nerves.

You know how the nicotine affects you mentally? It's very addictive.

It's useless to tell us smokers how bad it is and this and that, we know that already. Just can't kick it.

I'd advise you to try to quit now....I only smoke a cig or two at parties now and then because you get all woozy when doing it when you dont smoke normally, but I'd hate to be a regular smoker.....your hands and mouth STINK after smoking.....eww it's so gross. plus, it destroys your health over long periods of time

Let me tell you how hard it is Urbantechie, it's HELL!
After 11 years of smoking i quit cold turkey this week. I sit here in front of this computer dreaming of my havinbg a cigarette right now. I cant even think about what i'm going to do tomarrow because i can only think about a cigarette and how bad i want one. I cant believe i made it this long. I was very hyperactive before i started smoking and now i'm feeling that again, for the 3rd time. I have tried to quit 2 other times in the past, but i end up getting in a fight with the wife because i start to go insane wanting to smoke. I run through the house making all kinds of noises, like a kindergarden kid, because i am so wound up! Finally the wife tells me to STFU and then the wars on.
I'd say to you, please dont get hooked, because it will change you for the worse if it gets it's claws inside of you.

Valhalla1, i think we get your point that you like pot already, you freaking pothead!!;)

although i never smoked in my life,,,,well, except when i was 4 and for some dumb reason i decided to take a puff of cigarette, let me tell you, bad idea for i seemed to choke forever :) ,,,,,,,anyways, i heard that using the 3-step patch system works. that wouldn't be such a bad idea since it's supposed to control your cravings.......arrrrrggggg(droolling)...:)

anytime you have to rationalize using something because i need it to 'relieve stress' or to make me feel better or something like that, it constitutes an addiction, which means you need to stop it right now! pick up a sport, start working out, run, get a punching bag or something to relieve stress, not cancer sticks!
