Back in grade school which was like 15 years ago, I was playing the clarinet. I picked it up pretty quickly, but now
I want to play the piano. Went to see Michelle Branch las tnight, very talented and hot chick (more on anothe thread).
Anyways, I know I can't be like her, but how hard would it be to learn to play the piano myself?

My daughter learned how to play in 8 weeks (8, 1-hour lessons.) She's since moved onto the violin - which she's been playing for nearly 3 years now.

As a child, it's easy to learn. As an adult - well, sometimes we are just too stubborn to allow ourselves to learn with ease.

This, of course, depends entirely on you. As with anything else, some people seem to take to it quickly (months), relatively speaking, while others have to work at it (years). No way to predict how 'hard' piano will be for you.

true, i was just wondering how difficult it would be compared to let's say a violin? It didnt take me long to play the clarinet, but that was like what, 10 keys?

Also depends on what you mean by learn. If you want to learn a few chords and put together some melodies with that, you can learn it pretty quickly. If you want to master the finer points of the classical repertory, you'll want to block out a large portion of your remaining life.

Those "learn the piano in 10 easy lessons" courses are getting better and better.
