How hard is it to learn French?

I'm learning it now, and it's not so bad.

I think to be able to pronounce it well is really difficult. The French are notoriously anal about pronounciations.

The weird thing in Quebec is that one of their most reputable universities is McGill university which teaches mostly in English and requires a rather tough English entry exam.

Once you know french, it is very easy to switch to italian and spanish. Portuguese is a little harder. I think I will learn mandarin soon because I want to know what the waiter is talking when I order dim sum.

IMO...

it's harder than Latin, but just as easy as Spanish (all three of which I found to be easier than German).

Latin < French = Spanish < German
