Note that the whole time they use water in the crank case, not oil.

Damn, they bounced that baby off the rev limiter for a good 10 minutes.

Longer than that. The video is time compressed. They kept cutting out time.

As it is the video is 8 minutes long. I bet the car lasted the better part of a day.

Makes you wonder what would happen if they dumped in some 20W-50 after that:p Probably could have kept driving it for a while.

why not? Water is obviously not as good a lubricant as oil, but it would keep the engine from seizing.

I remember an RX-7 video similar to this.... kept trying to kill the engine by pegging the rev limiter. Anyone got a link to it?

I remember that one, it didn't last nearly as long as this Honda did, I don't think.
Of all the intentional engine killing videos I've seen, this one has definately been the longest.

Now, where's that Buick Regal video? Oh wait... :p

Only reason why it blew is because it got so hot tapping the rev limiter for so long, burned all of its coolant off, then mechanical failure resulted. I'm sure if they kept adding coolant or something, the engine would have lasted quite a bit longer.

I'm still d/l-ing this one right now, I'll watch it when it finishes.

I will post a video of my Crown Victoria tonight that has had nearly zero oil pressure for three months, knocks so amazingly loud it puts the most aggressive diesel to shame, and is driven every day up to 100 miles a day. Damn thing refuses to die.
