how hard do you think it would be to upgrade a laptop CPU?

It really depends on what you want to upgrade. More memory should be OK, bigger hard-drive maybe, if the bios supports it (may need flashing). Getting to the cpu, could be 'ify', cooling a faster processor might be a problem.
