How good is a :
1.ASUS Burner 52X-24X, 2mb

2.A TRANSCENT 256 mb ddr ram (ever heard of it?)

3.an IBM-HITACHI 2mbcache 80gb HDD?

4.ASUS A7N266VM mobo?

any troubles that you guys have had with these?

ASUS motherboards in general are always good in terms of reliability/stability. Their burners are generally rebadged liteons, so they're decent also.

I would recommend against IBM-Hitachi HD, as after the merger, they havn't proven themselves reliable just of yet... and my 60gxp died on me 🙁

Never heard of the ram =\

I've heard that a lot-- that asus burners are rebadged lite-ons. I pulled mine out and it has no mention of lite-on anywhere, as the rebadged ones do. All it says is asus.. yada yada yada. I've also heard that asus makes their own drives. Regardless, it is great, solid, sturdy construction, built like a tank. Burns anything i throw at it. I still haven't gotten used to burning cds in under 3 minutes....

1. Asus burner quality varies greatly due to the different manufactures used. If its a Lite-on then they are very good. However the last Asus burner I installed ( rebadged Aopen CRW4850) was the noisest drive I have ever heard and it had problems running media at full speed that would run fine on a Lite-on. While I would rate Asus mobos as the best I would avoid thier burner unless you are positive it was a Lite-on brand.

3. After all the problems I've had with IBM drives (75 and 60GXPs)I still like them. Fast and quiet is why. Every manufacturer is going to have problems now and then.

4. Asus A7N266VM- Love them. Built six so far. Only one gave me trouble with the built in Lan (pre AA version). It would not stay connected unless going thru a router instead of directly to the cable modem. However the other five were fine. Highly recommended.

never knew ASUS rebadged other brands!

will go in for their mobo, thanx

news about IBM-HITACHI worrying , my other option is SEAGATE
no access to WESTERN DIGITAL, other brands too costly

Transcent RAM?!! thought it sounded out of this planet,
who knows , may be it is!

that would be "Transcend" RAM as i just saw in another posted rig in the forum
now, any impressions on that?,

guess the whole
title of this thread should change now to
"transcend RAMS , Any good?"

Transcend sells to Kingston, Corsair for their value line.

For the price would it be more feasible just to get the Lite-on drive?
