How good is your memory?

Do I have some kind of condition or something? I have VERY good memory, except in regards to numbers and names.

For example, I do extremely well on tests as you just spew back information back. I just read the book once and I'm good to go. Same goes for locations and driving... I go to someones house the first time, and I'll be able to get back there easily. I can remember almost all the movies I've ever watched and with who and where as well.

However, I have a very hard time with names and numbers. When I meet new people, it's hard for me to remember their name. Same goes for phone numbers and dates... I'm doomed when it comes to birthdays.

I only remember numbers. If I read a book, I don't remember sh|t in the end. I could remember 20 digits but I can't remember what happened in a book:frown:

I can remember numbers with no problems, but I suck at remembering names. I assign everyone I meet a nickname based on personal appearance, attitude, personality and remember them that way.

totally not. I really have hard time remmbering names. If u tell me your name 30 seconds latter i will not remmber it.Now if i meet u couple of times like 3 or 4 and everytime i hear your name i will remmber it. As for numbers it all depends on a person i personally can remmeber tel # for no appearent reason but some other people can't even remmber the simplest one.

My memory sucks and it really bothers me. I notice when I forget things.. argh. However I have no problem remembering numbers usually. I know my two icq uins by heart, and also my friend's. I have no prob remembering all the phone numbers and email addresses of the people I associate myself with. I don't have to look at my schedule for classes in order to know where/when to go... but for reading/tests that kind of stuff, my memory is a bitch.

and is this short term or long term? I have a good long term, but my short term sucks. I'm very visual, FWIW.

I have a horrible short term memory, one of the few effects of chronic chronic smoking

I can only remember certain things...one of which is numbers. Although in the past half year that I've started drinking heavily/more, my memory is worst than an amnesiac's. :) :( But it's always been bad...just that now it's short term in addition to long term.

I'm real good at memorizing useless facts. Give me 40 pages of AP US or Econ, and I'll be able to get most of it down without taking notes or anything. Then again, I also did reasonably well (81%) on one test when I didn't even read the chapter. It amazes me how people can read and still fail. But anything useful, like directions, they instantly go right out my head.

My ability to remember is directly proportional to the amount of sleep I have recently gotten. More sleep, more memory. Except when it comes to something I've read or any trivial fact I have heard. I have an excellent memory for trivial information and am good at quoting from books I've read, lending me the appearance of intelligence for better or worse.

I can remember things that I read pretty well, but I can't remember names, directions, or what time I need to come into work. Heck, sometimes I forget what I'm doing.

I basically can only remember things that I see, not what people say. I have to really pay attention to what people are saying, or I just won't even catch it.

i'm like that! it's kinda like when someone's talking to you and you leave and you didn't remember anything that they just talked about. except it involves reading.

I'm ridiculously good with numbers, bad with names, phenomenal with addresses / directions. I can store maps in my head. I look at a Mapblast printout or a page from the Thomas guide once and I'm good to go. :)
