How good is the RAM at TCWO?

Is it quality stuff? I've been eyeing a stick of 512mb DDR2100 for $148 but I really like to stick with Crucial when I can, but with RAM prices like they are now it might be worth it to cheapy.

edit: OOPS, I meant $159

Don't know, but here's a friendly tip: don't mess it up then try to RMA it. We will find out. 😉

but kranky, how was I supposed to know you couldn't mix ddr and sdram! Boy, getting that sdram into that slot took alot of work. I had no idea that memory could make such a horrible burning smell.

PS
Did I mention I'm an MCSE, NCE, and have hand built thousands of pc's since 1942?

I don't know if you guys are laughing at me or with me?

Just remember that if you have problems with it, you could always send it back in an envelope.....

I'M JUST KIDDING!!!!

Seriously... the TCWO DDR RAM is Samsung. It works great in Biostar, Gigabyte, Asus and Intel boards. They all work well Soyo boards except for the 512s have an issue with the K7ADA. MSI boards have issues when used in pairs, but I've found MSI boards have issues with LOTS of different double sided DDR sticks when used in pairs.

Look jackass... The belts for your car have been sitting in my drive way for two weeks! They could easily end up "missing", if you get my drift.

With DDR, double sided RAM is often seen as two banks of RAM and too much RAM can cause too much of a capicitance load on the memory bus. Two sticks are often not a problem, but three sticks of double sided rarely work.

Can't say about Iwill board compatability. The only two Iwill DDR boards I ever had both ended up being bad.

yep those too 😉 I mean the little ones to the right of Dimm 2 between the top two right mounting holes. I used to hand solder those buggers when I worked at HP.

And except for changing out my modem this computer has not been shutdown since I installed Windows.

Oh.. I don't about those caps. You'd have to ask an actual engineer about those. I know the row of resistors is toaddress capicatance on the memory bus. Those caps probably do reduce some noise issues to add to stability. I just don't know for sure.
