I am heavily considering them for a group of friends to share (a Family Plan package if you will). However I see that they sometimes have network problems and disconnections. Can anyone comment?

You're going to get people who have been happy with the service, and people who want to carpet bomb their corporate headquarters. Pretty much all cell phone companies are like that though.

Their network has improved over the years. However, their customer service sucks.....I mean I end up screaming at them every month because they mess up my bill almost monthly.......

its only their billing department that sucks tho, and that is just because they can't get it right for everyone all the time. seems that the people that get screwed up are the same people over and over again, tho. the rest of their customer service has been pretty good to me.
Ive had them for two months. Great service, reasonable price, no connection problems. Although I end up buying lots of those games they sell online, and making my bill more expensive

About a year ago, I picked up a phone w/Sprint service at RadioShack. At my apartment 1 mile away, I got no reception. In the field next to my apartment, I got 1 bar or roaming.
not that expensive.. ranging from 2-5 bucks usually.. but I buy lots of them
actually my bill wasnt all that bad.. you just have to watch out for the "subscription" based games... some of them look really cool, but I refuse to buy those.. most are "one time" pay though.

Sprint sucks! I just switched from them to T-Mobile here in Atlanta. GSM simply rules: SMS the way it's suppose to be and calls that are REALLY free and clear. TMO CS is also much better, whereas Sprint loved to promise me one thing and never followed through. (Like credit my account after having given me a more expensive plan than the one I signed for.)
I have sprint for more than one year now and frankly speaking they have been pretty ok. Maybe because I don't travel much. I haven't had problems with the network. But yes the signals get bad at times. Last time I was in LA there service was below avg. Their customer service is kinda crap, so would be the others.
I have heard that verizon is the best and cingular is good too but check their coverage.
The sprint pcs vision crap sucks so if you are into sms I don't recommend that coz you have to spend an additional $15 for vision and have to connect to net to check/send sms. The good part is that you can browse sites.
I've been with Sprint for the past 4 years, and thier network coverage has increased greatly. I don't have any complaints aobut network coverage or the phones they offer. I will say that you need to find a comfortable chair and have some food around when it comes time to deal with thier customer service. I have only had to call them about 4 times, but each time I was on the phone for a long time.

Sorry. No longer an excuse. True SMS launches 2/15 according to my sources and is already up and running in some markets.
Anyhow, I've had a great experience with Sprint. I've been with them since 9/00. My plan is great and I can't complain at all about the coverage. Currently I have 750 anytime minutes, unlimited night/weekend at 7pm, unlimited pcs-pcs and unlimited vision (with pictures and junk since i've got a Sanyo 5300) for $55 a month. I really can't complain at all
And for the record, they have never messed up my billThat's the thing. We need an account that allows for multiple phones. I am currently looking at the promotional with 2000 Anytime Minutes + 7Pm Nighttime Calling + Two Free Phones for $110 or so.

Depends on the area. they're much better in some than others.... i think DC is predominantly Sprint. You have situations like those where they're really good in some areas and spotty in others.
I was a customer for 4 years in NY (upstate and down) but finally had it with the dropped calls down here. I also rarely got a signal at all in my home office. If I did, I'd be hoping not to get dropped, which happened more often than not. Now that I have Verizon, I get at least 1-2 bars everywhere, including the "dead spot" in the office. Haven't been dropped once.

That's what I have with Sprint.
Just make sure you get the Sanyo phones, the Samsung phones suck. If you have any doubts, walk into a Best Buy. They'll have a Samsung and a Sanyo phone sitting right next to each other. The Sanyo will always have more bars showing than the Samsung. For instance, the Best Buy near me has Samsung and Sanyo phones. The Samsung phones show 2 to 3 bars, while the Sanyo phones sitting right next to them show the FULL 5 bars. People that have switched over to teh Sanyo phones have also said they're able to make calls now with their Sanyo phone in places where their Samsung phones couldn't even get a signal (roaming). Mind you, they were still using Sprint as their cell phone service provider.I try to put this in every Sprint thread since I found it.
