Where did you get the idea that this ddram isn't good for dual channel? It may run fine in dual channel mode at 333, but not 400 speed. Since most dual channel settings are with "c" series p4's, pc3200 is recommended, so if you can swap it, I would spend a little more for pc3200 for future upgrades. I have a 2.4b cpu using pc3200 in dual mode.

well it says on the retail box that the value ram is non-dual channel compatible.

Well, you're obviously going to have to buy PC3200 ram sometime, since it's a must for having a P4C, so you'd me much smarter to buy it now, than to buy PC2700 now and some PC3200 later.

Hah, you think there's a big price difference NOW, just wait six months, and you're going to be posting a thread entitled "Why didn't you guys convince me to buy some PC3200 six months ago?" The ram that I just ordered went up $10 a stick overnight!:(

what up with ram prices???

So you think getting the Kingston HyperX at BB for $110 a stick x 2 would be better...

Yeah, Value ram is crap, anyway. HyperX is pretty good stuff. If you got HyperX PC3200, you'd be able to run it up to about 220fsb, at a 1:1 ratio (later, when you upgrade to a P4C). It might cost you more now, but it will end up costing you less in the long run.

why?
Because all of the PC3000, and nearly all of the 2700 ram with BH-5 chips are gone now, Thugs. I was going to put a wink there, but I can't stand that fugly dude that they've replaced our 'wink' guy with.

Hey, the Winbond CH6 is the best stuff that's still available now. I just ordered a gig of it Friday night, and to my surprise, it came today! So, I'm about to go install it and the DFI Ultra Infinity that I ordered, and see if I can get some 220 or even 225x11 action.:D Wish me luck.;)

Verify markings on chips. If it's D328DW-50 or D328DW-45, then you got good ones. It will run @pc3200 with no problem. Some ppl say they are BH-5 or CH-5

their valuram...is this stuff any good...
I wasn't very impressed when one of the two kingston valueram pc2700 sticks I ordered was faulty. After an RMA I'm not winning any speed contests but it's stable enough. I have a p4 2.6b at stock speed. You generally get what you pay for; I'd definitely go with at least pc3200, maybe higher.

Here are my markings:

Kingston
V71021
0351 P01
D3208DI1R-5A

Kingston
V71043
0351 P01
D3208DI1R-5A

at least the 1/I could be an I or 1 very hard to tell

2 separate sticks...they are running on my IT7 Max2 rev2(845PE) at P4@2.9 with 160fsb/200mhz 4:5 divider...2.7v @ cas 2.5/3/3/6...I threw them in last night and have not tinkered but hope to decrease to 2.6v and/or 2.5/2/2/6(supposedly on this mobo the HPT controller does not like 5)

the sticks were pc2700 2.5v cas 2.5..so I am impressed

Kingston ValueRam PC2700 was unuseable in my Epox 8RDA+ in dual channel mode or with 2 sticks installed in single channel mode at a FSB over 145MHz. I sold it and got some HyperX PC2700 and it was fine. I eventually got some Corsair XMS PC3500 so I could overclock and run tight timings at the same time.

PC2700 is not the right memory for a P4C IMO.

I agree this may not work in dual channel but I am not sure this is true pc2700....wish I had a dual channel board to check...but I am betting it would be fine
just a quick update the 2 sticks will run at 2.6v at 5:4 divider ..200mhz with cas 2.5/3/3/6...going to cas 2.5/2/2/6 even at 2.7v is a no go

but given that the elixir ram I tried 2weeks which was rated at pc3200 but at cas3..this stuff is a bargain...

Not sure about dual channel but I still it would be ok..

I tired to go back to BB and see if they had the Hynix chips but they were sold out

I have never had a problem running different sticks of memory in dual channel mode. Even different sizes and brands worked fine in dual channel mode. I am not sure why other have had problems.

Not only were my sticks both PC2700, they were both 512MB in size, had the same chips, and both Kingston ValueRam branded. And they wouldn't work in dcddr mode. Sometimes sh!t happens. If you dig up the old 8RDA+ thread you'll see that many people had this problem, Kingston actually fessed up that the problem was with their memory.
