How good are your nunchuk skills, bow hunting skills?

skilled enough with nunchucks to knock myself unconcious thereby alleviating the need for food for a while. Wake up and repeat until crisis is over.

I am actually pretty good with nunchucks. I've only hit myself in the balls a few times.

I used to thing that way. then started watching all sorts of Zombie stuff and play survival games. YES I get it that they are fantasy, but please. Read on. During idle time, my mind wanders. :p
Presuming NOTHING corrects back to normal quickly. Bullets WILL run out. Yes, you can do reloads and that would extend your time. But eventually those "feedstocks" (Casings, powder etc.) will also run out. Rocks and sticks make a bow a tad more "Giving" in the long run and you WOULD learn how to make arrows, make a bow etc.
Sure. Short time "situation", guns ROCK. But there could come a day....
I like Bo staff suggestions, as it gives a bit of distance. Chucks are TOO up-close. Swarm of anything (Human, zombie wolfs)= dead. In Cabellas (Spelling?) I bought this great small axe. Bigger than a hand ax, but smaller than a fire ax. GREAT balance. I wrapped 50 foot of para cord around the base to make a "grip". If sheet gets real, I grab that, my firestarters my 32 ounce Louisville slugger fungo bat and yes.... My pump shotty.

Here is to it NEVER coming to that.:colbert:

I can survive for a long time without food. I have been bulking up over the last 34 years, and I carry around extra weight at all times.

Sadly, I had to go the Raphael route in training with Sai when I had to choose something for weapons training in karate. The Katana was made of wood, so no going the Leonardo route and the Nunchaku was wood as well. Not the good wood that could seriously crack someones skull either, but pansy ass wood that was "safe". If you aren't going to sell the real deal then what is the point in training with it? My sais at least were metal. They had sais that were really freaking long and ones that were more Raphael's speed. I chose the latter.

remember that every weapon has both strengths and weaknesses and they all go against each other differently

Played with nunchuks at college. We made practice ones out of leather and denim, stuffed incredibly tight - quite rigid and hurt if you got hit. Roommate took some sort of art course, and made a stainless steel pair. Those suckers were dangerous. You'd end up with bruises on your wrists just from practicing with them. He put a milk jug on a chair and tried to pop it - didn't work out so good. It broke the chair in half.

I have 3 or 4 bows at home and plenty of arrows. If necessary, I could survive off the land via hunting skills, provided there wasn't a lot of other hunting pressure from others trying to do the same.

DrPizza brings up an important point. You have to compete with other people for resources, which will be the greatest challenge.

I have .22lr bolt action with optics and several thousand rounds. I'm confident I could kill enough rabbits and squirrels to live for quite awhile.

Yeah, I would have preferred a Katana. But you see the thing is, I wanted a REAL katana made of metal. But the only one my karate school would let me use was one sanctioned by the school, all of which were wood for "safety purposes". Only the sai for whatever reason were given an exemption. I wanted the real deal when I was a kid.

I killed a bird (it was a sparrow ok!) in my own house with a nerf bow last fall. It flew into our house from the garage and got into our laundry room. It had already shit on the coats and I was in no mood to chase it around the house and try and shoo it out.

I think the thing that would trip most people up is hunting with the bow. Hunting takes a particular set of skills that are not well manicured by modern society, as does accurate use of a bow. Most hunting bows I have used have an 70lb+ draw strength, I have a very hard time believing that most people could manipulate a bow like that skillfully enough to accurately hit a target.

Have had many bow over the years, have sold most, still have a Jennings Unistar I haven't shot in ages.

Used to have a 35 lb bow when I was 14 that was an old Martin recurve I think and used to shoot blackbirds out of the top of trees with in the 70's.

Couldn't these days.
