how good are you at real life poker vs. internet poker?

I am way better in real life. I seem to take stupid risks online and don't really care if I lose. But I know plenty of people who are better online.

No poll. Someone can make one if they want.
 
My sister-in-laws brother is a serious, and I mean serious poker player. He's go to all sorts of tournaments, has won many times. Even the worlds poker champ once.
 
I have enjoyed success in both online and live games / tourneys.

I do find that playing online you run into WAY more fish. I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that they are not subjected to the same ridicule that they might be in a live game.
 
I have about the same success in both. I'd have to say maybe a little more online. I'd say in real life it's just a bit more fun than it is online with some of the d0uches that sometimes join your game.
 
Hard to say. I only play ring games online, and only play tourneys in real life, which are much more luck based. Especially limit tourneys which is what I usually play. I'd much rather play online, though. Better selection of tables, I can play 4 tables at once, bonus money, poker tracker, etc.. Not to mention I can do it any time and the nearest casino is about an hour away from me.
 
I'm really good in RL, online I am not that great. I run into too many fish. If I could tighten my game up online, I'd do better.
 
I don't play all that often but for me it's about the same either way.

I either have it...or I don't.

There doesn't seem to be any middle ground when I play.

I haven't seen him in a long time. Interesting family, each has done very well, in his/her own right. Their father Tom McEvoy was a Knife thrower, developed his own knives, wrote a book.
Other brother is a well known psychiatrist, been on Oprah. My sister-in-law is the top ballerina in their home town. Geez. 😛
 
everyone's thinks they're better in real life, because most people playing in real life are just gambling or playing for fun. a higher percentage of people online actually know what they're doing.

What limits have you played at the casino? The 4/8 games at the casino I've played are about on the same level of competition as the .50/1 tables online

completely agree. those who are saying there are higher percentage of fish online just haven't played enough.

I have no problems sitting at a 5-5 NL live game but I would think twice before sitting at a 600 max buy in or 1000 max buyin online game.

If I could multitable live games and I lived close enough to a casino, I would play it everyday but unfortunately the first is impossible and the second is not available right now.

I disagree. I know that I take the game much seriously when I am playing with real money, plus I can read people's body language. Also, the people I play in real life I have played so many more times, I know their reactions to situations, whereas I can't know the playing style of someone on the Net. Did I mention body language? If someone delays their wagor in real life, you know that they are either thinking about it, or trying to make you think that they are unsure with thier bet, or taking a drink, or whatever. Online, that same guy could go to the bathroom, talk to someone on IM, etc. In person, bluffing is so much more than betting when you don't have the cards for it. Online, the techincal parts of the game are magnified, but the social part just isn't there.
 
I like online poker better, because I see more hands which is good for someone tight such as myself. In real life I eventually start playing more marginal hands because I get bored.
