How good are the stock A64 cooling units?

I'm looking for a cooling unit for a clawhammer 3200+. How decent are the stock cooling units for these? Do they allow for any overclocking whatsoever? Are they noisy? Do they take advantage of the A64 cool and quite tech? Any bad experiences with these?

I think mine is a bit misaligned so it sounds weird. But I'm gonna replace it anyway.

Temps (3200+ Winchester): 38-39/35C idle, 46C under load. (35C idle is with Cool & Quiet).

It certainly shouldn't blow the core through the back wall of the chassi, anyways. 😉

It's a good 12-14 degrees away from getting worried, I'd say. I'll be getting some Zalman or something, and that should make overclocking better. But I may try some OC'ing out now as well, and let the temp run to maybe 50-52 under load.

when i was typing this 22C according to MBM5

22C is freezing for air cooling. Is your room a fridge??? What are your ambient temps?

My CPU (winchester 3200+ @ stock) is currently at 33C under load (SETI@HOME) with Cool 'n Quiet (running 100% load at 1GHz). The ambiet is somewhere in the low 20C's.

Tell me your secret. I mean, I got an almost identical system to yours. Same CPU, core and everything, same mobo, same brand RAM, GF6600GT, same model PSU and such.

How do you get such low temps?

Yeah, I gotta say...it's not that I think my system is wrong, it's that I think their systems are unexplicably (so far) cool.

my Winnie 3000+ oc'd to 2.25ghz on my Asus A8V-E sits at roughly 24c and load didn't exceed 28-29c

my Winnie 3200+ oc'd to 2.45 on my MSI K8N Neo4 doesn't exceed 26c at load.

Ambient right at 70 F tho.

Winnie's just run cooler than Claws/NCs....

only problem they have is the incompatiblility of their week steppings ie 0501s 0502 0503 0451 etc

they probably look at there bios or software reporting i am betting its wrong also...
dont run ur cpu on cool n quite like they do.

Why?

And still, even with C&Q, it doesn't account for that low a temperature (it's lot like it lower 13-15 degress right?). And besides, it does nothing to explain the equally unbelievable load temps.

They do a pretty darn good job. Mine idles at 32C and max load is 44C during the fall/winter. During the summer, it idles at 35C and max load is 46C. I have a 3200+ Winchester.

I also find 29c a little hard to fathom. For a cpu core temp to be running under load at only 16F above room temp sounds a little too fantastic for stock cooling. Maybe those are system temps or incorrect reporting.

Yeah, 29C is believeable after a cold startup, or unless your house is FREEZING cold.
