Will Obama have the authority to shit-can this clown when he gains the WH?

Chicago should be sold to Mexico, or at the very least walled off with a tunnel that only goes to the sea.

At this point, the taint simply stinks too much, and it will be impossible to wipe it clean with all the shit that's recently come out. Blagojevich seems to be an asshole in the truest sense of the word.

Nope. Federal authority != State authority.

His state needs to get his shit together.

Months? It hasn't even been one month yet (he was arrested Dec 9th).

Doesn't seem that bad to me.

Actually the tunnel to the sea sounds like a good public works program.

finally, months after the indictment, illinois finally moves to impeach.

but not b4 the damage is done with the appointment of a senator.

even if jesus came down and blessed the appointment, burris would still be tainted by the shadow of the governor.

As been said, it hasn't been one month, and the legislature has to be in session to do it which didn't happen until a few days ago.

Yeah, and as much as I would have wanted to see him impeached the day after the arrests, I don't think that this should be too quick or easy of a process otherwise it may be used for witch hunts and political grudges. Heck, he hasn't been indicted yet, what if the charges (I don't think they are in this case) were largely trumped up? So I agree with the legislature having to conduct its own investigation and, upon approval by the House, its own trial.

"Clown" appears to be a pretty good description of that guy (Burris).

Glad you think so; however this thread is about G-Rod.

Obama fully supports him.

Crack-Pipe, or Beer-Bong?

Actually, Zero was accurate! BHO actually supported Burris which gave Burris the confidence that he will soon be seated as Senator. The only guy with a crack pipe or beer-bong is probably Blago!

For those of you who either have not followed the case or just pretend ignorance, impeaching Blago is going to take real evidence and that, thus far, is totally missing in action.

Anyone or their brother and law can make an allegation against anyone, but thus far Blago has not been indicted yet.

So far Federal Prosecutors.............3. are long on totally unsubstantiated bluster, but they have not, and have thus far refused to, share their evidence with anyone.

I love it when the OP doesn't even read their own link, jumps to conclusions from there. From the article-

Blagojevich was arrested December 9, but has not been indicted. A federal judge in Chicago told Fitzgerald he has until April 7 to decide whether to charge the Illinois governor.

Blago hasn't even been indicted, and the federal prosecutor can't release whatever evidence he has to the legislature because he'd blow his own case.

How long does it take? Not very, when there's real evidence rather than mere accusation.

The best part of all this is the people who defended Libby, even after he was convicted, are the first to demand Blago's head on a plate, even though he hasn't even been formally charged.

That's blind stupid partisanship at its finest...

But this thread IS about Blago, not Burris.

Being raised in Illinois, this is kind of embarassing. This is 2nd Governor we've had that has essentially been a bad guy.

I'm not sure on what happens after impeachment, does this impeachment stick, and does he face any legal consequences stemming from this particular ruling?

He'll now face a trial in the IL senate, be convicted, then tossed out on his ass.

I think you mean 2nd governor in a row. We've had others.

The vote was 114-1. Has anyone seen who the "one" was and why? I have total respect for secret balloting but I'm really curious.
