Last time I checked 800k/sec was 6.4mbit and 1meg/sec was 8mbit....and you're capped at 3mbit.....and I know RR does in fact cap anywhere between 1.5 and 3mbit depending on where you live....so I sincerely doubt that what you say is true....maybe in short little bursts (before the server/cable modem has a chance to enforce the cap), but you cannot download large files that fast and maintain those speeds under RR or any other ISP that doesn't enforce a cap.

you CAN useing a DOWNLOAD ACCELERATOR, getting around the cap is its whole purpose
next time im home ill get you a screen shot, and seeing as ive Dled 100gigs in 3 days on RR i dont think they really care what i do
a download accelerator simply opens more connections to the server you're downloading....it doesn't get around your bandwidth cap...do you think ISP's that enforce the caps are that stupid?

no but if it says its dling at 800k/s and my firewall and network moniotor also report 800k/s then its doing 800k/s
if that's the case, then you're not being capped, or you hacked your cable modem :)
In any case, download accelerators CAN'T give you faster speeds than those set by your ISP.

532499 bytes were transferred to your computer in 0.92 seconds. Your max throughput is 577.98 KB/sec.

Nice!

im on mediacom cable and just got the speed increase about a month ago. at 1.5 i would DL @170ish. at 3.0 (speed tests actually result in 2.5) i DL @330ish. upload used to be 128, but test would show 64. with the increase, im getting 240.

not quite doubled, but im not complaining.

What method/ ISP are you using?

uhh, sure....

If in fact you are capped at 3mb/s, what you are saying is impossible. The only other option is that you have no clue what your max limit is. If in fact you are getting up to 1 mB/s, then your cap is not 3 mb/s.

OK, reading this thread makes my head hurt . KB and Kb are *different* measurements. You need to use them correctly or nobody will ever be able to get things straight.

Keep in mind that some programs report speeds differently with different measurements. Your download accelerator is probably reporing in Kb/s, where as IE reports in KB/s. 1KB=8Kb, 100KB=800Kb per second.

LOL.. :p

They're right. Bandwidth is bandwidth. It is the size of the pipe connecting you to the internet. You can't force more data through the pipe than will fit.
