without any tweaks, i am running Win2000 at aprox 1.5 down/180 up... I don't really know of any tweaks for Win2000 though or maybe i could get a little more speed out of the cable company.

First time I tried I got 1000/150
Applied the tweaks and rebooted and got 1100/140.

Then hit refresh a couple of times in the browser and I get 3000/379 - seems to be getting the screens out of cache.

Theres No way your getting 4000-4500Kbps FROM a cable modem. Thats like having a T-3 line, if IM not mistaking.

BuckMaster-
I hear ya, that's the reason for this post. Just ran the test at Bandwidth Speed Test and got the following results:
4689.7 Kbps
574.7 K bytes/sec

Just ran the test at DSL Reports and got:

West Coast
** Speed 2945(down)/233(up) kbps **
(At least 58 times faster than a 56k modem)
Finish.

East Coast
** Speed 2952(down)/236(up) kbps **
(At least 59 times faster than a 56k modem)
Finish.

I am new to the broadband scene and these tests seem a little high to me. Someone please define the data I am getting on these tests and what it means.

Aybara-
I live in Kansas and no, you would not want to live here. So far this awesome cable connection is the only good thing I can find about living here. A note to all. When Road Runner came to install this I demanded they string a new cable from the pole to my house. I also got a roll of cable to run inside my house from them the week before. I made sure that the cable modem was the first thing that taps off this new line then the TV's. I think that is important if you can do it.

PC_Freak-
This patch is for WIN 95-98 so yes it would work for you.

what was it before? 4mbit is rare, but not unheard of with cable...especially if you're the only one on your node

Well, before tweaking I was getting:
1436/161 from ComputingCentral
2201 from Speedus

After tweaking:
