Yeah, but no digital camera can come close to keeping up with that speed. You might only see those transfer rates on USB2 transfers. Unless you are using a high-end DSLR ( Canon 1D II..etc.), save your money.

I noticed that my lowest quality, Sony Memory Stick could upload directly from the camera, several times faster than a CF card could upload from the S50. No idea why. Never uploaded the CF from a reader, so I don't know how much better that would be.

i shoot a canon 10d... which if i recall can max out 40x memory for its 9 shot buffer... but buying any faster media won't due anything more for it.

i find it funny when geeky tech headed kids feel they need the sandisk 52x extreme cf cards for their p&s digi's, lol

I just bought a 512MB Sandisk Ultra II (9MB/s write/ 10MB/s read) CF card for my Canon A80. :) I got it because I'm VERY impatient. When I put the CF card in my USB 2.0 reader, I want to download the pictures as FAST as possible. :)

thats why i have an image tank g2 w/ a 40gig laptop drive in it and a slot to upload my cf cards... will dump a 512 meg card in under 2 min to the drive, then the drive connects usb2.0 to my computer

when covering events ive shot upwareds of 3gigs of photos in 4 hours... so an image tank is the only solution for me rather then buying a ton of 1gig 40x cards

I'm not sure what you mean, you'll only be able to transfer files as fast as the CF card will let you. Theoretically, you should be able to transfer a FULL 512MB Ultra II CF card in under a minute. :)

I've got a 10D too. There is no way it can max out 40x memory when shooting continuously. The camera can transfer 1.2MB/sec at most. There isn't much difference in speed w/ regard CF memory when using the 10D.

yup, mine does, coupled with my usb2.0 card reader, it transfers the whole card in about 57 seconds :p I'm happy :D

yes, my digicam does not fully support the cards write speeds, but pulling or reading data from the card is highly dependent of the medium and the reader. Soon, I will have a digicam that will take advantage of the full write speed of this card, until then, taking high res raw pics will be slow.
oh btw, this card is 60x/66x write/read :p

I've been wondering whether it would be worth it to shell out for a 45-60x "high speed" CF card for my Nikon CP 4300. It comes with an 8x card, but would my camera be able to take advantage of a faster one? How much faster? I've looked and looked, but I can't seem to find any info about the max speed my camera can take advantage of. (I don't currently use a CF reader--just the camera + USB cable.)

Thanks for any insight.
