How fast have you driven on public roads?

Little over 200kmh / 125mph on a friday night, the car was '97 2.0l Opel Omega. Wouldn't go any faster...

110 in a 1986 volvo wagon with the stansard 4 cylinder engine that has over 220k on it. Have done it more than once, god highways in northern VT and NY get empty 🙂

115 in an 84 VW Rabbit GTI on I 15 in SoCal
105 in my 84 Volvo 244 GL on the way to Vegas (hmm... wonder why my head cracked? LoL) With exhaust manifold gasket leaks.
95 in my 96 S-10 4banger... Damn limiter cut off spark at that speed
100 in a 71 LTD

100 in a stock 1998 Nissan Sentra (didn't think it would go that far... 🙂 )

100+ in many modified aircooled VW beetles

120 in a Porsche 914

185kmh (116mph) in a freaking POS civic dx. omfg it took so damn long to get up there, I swear I could have fallen asleep if it weren't for the fact that I was going 185kmh 😛

on a sidenote, my friend has only a v6 cam and it has plenty of power even on the highway.. I'm sure it can reach decently high speeds, compared to rice/econoboxes 😀

123 mph in an avalon but then I ran out of road. One day I'll hit 140 in the Maxima but I need the right time to do it. There is a lot of traffic and a lot of police and unfortunately finding the right stretch of road at the right time is pretty darn hard.

Here's the thing to consider with speed. Going 90-100mph in most modern day "sports" car is not very dangerous at all in the right circumstances. However, going speeds of 100+ in a vehicle like a Ford Festiva are not a good idea even under ideal conditions. :Q😉

95 feels very secure in my 240sx, but at 100 it vibrates like a mofo. I think it's my front strut that needs replacing (messes up alignment).

really? my 240 felt pretty secure in the 100+mph ranges, however the highest i got to was 110mph..but you wouldn't know it unless you looked athte pseedo. And this was on Hakka1 winter tires too.

140 in a '94 Maxima SE. Did it on I-5 north of Wheeler Ridge enroute to Monterey. Did it 'cause there was a fella' in a rented GXE ahead of me and I could tell he thought it was a nice car. Thought I'd show him the real difference between a SE and a GXE. Knew his was rented 'cause it had that green Enterprise "E" on it. Think my SE was 205 hp while his GXE was 195. Scary stuff.

Let's see:
I've maxed the speedo in an '89 Escort (that was scary 😉)
I had an '86 Caprice Classic with a 305 - had the speedometer needle pointiong closer to zero than 90 🙂
and I took my '97 Cavalier to 112... that was scary, too.
😀
Edit:
btw, the first and third were in cop country: I 271 in Cleveland, and that's how I regularly drove my boat (the Caprice)

Now why do you say that?

Edit, technically your are right. Ridden would be more accurate. PS look at the nick. If you know about bikes, you will understand.

Cuase he has no idea what "Hayabusa Rider" means.

Seeing as how the picture that inspired this thread was taken with me driving: 140-149 for me.
