How fast does your machine boot up and shut down in seconds?

I asked this question in another topic but nobody answered but now it has got my interest. I did a search and no topic like this was found. I am curious...

1. How fast does yer machine boot up from pushing power button to the point where the computer is waiting for u to do something to it, not to the point where it shows the GUI but still loading drivers and what not, im talking about COMPLETELY ready for use.

2. How fast does yer machine shuts off from the OS (not pushing off button on computer chassis).

3. And what OS do you have?

here is mine

1. 36-38 seconds
2. 3 seconds flat
3. win98SE

just curious about what to expect about computing perfomance.

Mine takes just over a minute to boot up, proberly because of the 2 nic's, but shuts down in 10secs. Win98SE.

It takes my minimal install W2k partition 60 sec to boot. 10sec to shut down (to restart).
It takes my main W2k system partition (with all the applications installed and 3 users) 90 sec to boot from off. Realize this includes a triple boot setup it goes thru. Shut down time is about the same.

W98se takes 40 sec to boot.

Abit SE6, P733@133
256Mb Mushkin
30G Maxtor (6 partitions)
Sony 145E CDRW
Kingston KCNR156-100 ethernet combo

1-88 Secs to boot
2-5 secs to shutdown (Have to manually turn off- no ACPI)
3- Win 2k

Then again- i havent had to shutdown in several days and don't plan on doing it very often

12 seconds with no NIC after a fresh install {believe it or not, I timed it} With NIC 36 seconds.
Shut down 5 seconds
Win98SE

30 about
5-10
Win ME
