If you see the files you want on newsgroups you can get them. No waiting, no lines, and no hoping for someone on the other end to start sending

Actually, you will normally experience waits on Usenet because of the huge list of files queued up waiting to be downloaded 😉 With several TBs of stuff available, there's always something to download.

under what condiotns are oyu guys able to dl stuff at those insane speeds? Like a 20 mb connections or something? i seem to only find the slow torrents.

The point is that people will go to where the files they want are at. BT and Newsgroups both have them, and BT and Newsgroups both have their strengths and weaknesses. Sticking to one service over another for personal prefference is fine, but insulting people because of their choice is pure asshattery. Beyond asshattery. In fact, I would dare say it's Hitler level. Do you want to be like Hitler?

Asshattery -- nice, been a while for that one.

Agreed. The last time I used BT was to snag FreeBSD6-RELEASE ISOs. If that's an illegitmate use whereby I am going to hell; so be it, I daemonized from ~50 other peers at ~24mbit/s using an OC3 link. It was well-peered.
