depends on the rain... heavy, blinding rain - 40mph or so. Moderate rain, 60mph. Light rain, 70+.

Depends on traffic. If it's pretty clear, I'll go 70-80. If it comes down harder to where I have to do medium-high wipers, then I'll slow down to 60-65.

Depends on the condition of the road itself, the amount of traffic & how heavy the rain is. For example I drive on I-95 here in Connecticut a lot & with the lousy drainage it gets unsafe in even moderate rain & the left lane can be borderline undrivable at more then 50 mph.

On a wide & well maintained highway I'll travel as fast as traffic & my wipers allow.

I usually do 60 in light traffic and 55 in heavier traffic. I always see trucks, suvs, and minivans just fly by doing 80 or so. Funny, those are the types of vehicals I see flipped over or on its side by the freeway.

As fast as is safe. I always keep my car in top shape, good tires, wipers, shocks and brakes so that I am able to drive safely in inclement weather. In your scenario I would say 55-60 is fine unless there is standing water in the road.

In which case (standing water) 50 is tops or preferrably less.

Hydroplaning at 90 Mph SUCKS!

If it's coming down "pretty good" I would hope you have your wipers on high. The faster you drive the more rain hits your windshield. To answer the question though, unless it is a terenchial downpoor rain doesn't affect my speed, only the people in front of me going slower slows me down.

I don't like to speed anymore, with or without rain. Moreover my car sucks and my tires are as smooth as a baby skin, so I'ld say around 45 and under.

I had to drive in a snowstorm a couple months ago, not a real thick visibility-killing storm, but one with slushy shi!t that instantly made the highways into a slip and slide. I was going around 60 and still passing other passenger vehicles at a decent pace, semis were ripping past me like the bastards had cement blocks strapped to the gas pedal.

I'd usually go 65-80 in the rain, however, today was a different case. There was enough rain on the freeway today that often I would notice my speedometer going up rapidly, and then dropping down - a sign that my tires are completely losing traction. It happens when I barely foot the gas at 50mph at 5th gear on my 92' corolla. I tried staying under 55 today.

All depends on how busy the freeway is and how hard it's raining. If it's raining but I can still see fine with the wipres I just drive normal speed. If it's coming down so hard you actually can't see much at all, then obviously I slow down. Of course if it's raining so much the water is starting to pool, then I slow down too.

55-65...depending how bad. slow as i have to go to get decent following distance when theres traffic. nothing more annying than tards that tailgate when its raining. so stupid. makes u have to compensate for their stupidity by doubling ur goddamned following distance.

I use rainx on my windshield, and I have tires that have great water traction (I specifically looked for models that had good wet traction) - I go the speed limit.
