Stats from the wife, who drives one 😀 :

Crown Vic: 0-60 in under 7 seconds, 120 MPH top speed (gets unstable after 100mph)

Checy Caprice: About the same

Camaro/Mustang: 0-60 5-6 second range, 150MPH top speed

:camera:s of the wife in uniform? 😀

Impalas with light bars only get to about 110, or so I'm told.

126 last I read.

Not sure about the CVs. We don't get out of town much (pursuits only), so it's limited to how fast we can get going in the city. Fastest I've gone in the city is ~90 on a 4-lane street. Last major pursuit we had got up around 125 just out of town.

Heh.. I was watching a FOXNEWS live police chase from LA once, and the guy being chased pulled into the Beverly Center mall in Beverly Hills. The commentators all suddenly started hemming and hawing and then began to admit that this guy might actually get away...

My friend outran a Crown Vic for quite a while in his M3. He went around 150ish, but you can't always go so fast so he got pulled over in the end.

Cop: Do you know how fast you were going?
Friend: iono
Cop: Well.. I had trouble catching you when you passed 100.
*Cop writes him down for 100 on ticket*

wtf... lucky bastard.

Hah, but the next time he got pulled over by helicopter.. gg pwned.

Um.. ticket for 100 in most speed zones (IE 55, 65, etc) means lost license doesnt it

Certainly it depends on the locality, but in general it's at least a yanked license and can in some places be up to instant arrest. Many municipalities move excessive speeds to misdemeanor crimes - reckless endangerment and the like. I was pulled over in Texas years back going well over 120 and would have been arrested had it not been for some fast talking by my passenger - a freshly discharged marine who happened to come from the same unit as the officer who'd pulled me over.

Ahh, that was a helluva road trip 😀

You guys don't really think a crown vic can do 0-60 in less than 7 seconds, do you? 220hp, 4000lbs.... It doesn't add up. Try around 8 or 9 seconds. And 160mph? You can't be serious. Maybe 120 or 130mph.

which makes me wonder why my Jetta registers 160 🙂

I could have sworn reading that the late model crown vic topped at 139 on paper.....

obviously the camaros are 160ish per-F body governing

any sedan is too scary to drive past 10- they just dont have the suspension to make it controllable.

I find that I have to put up the mustang's windows over 100 because there is too much turbulence and it tugs the car from side to side. I wonder if the convertables have the same problem.

now they have a bunch of different cars, so I don't know anymore

160mph in a Crown Victoria, fvcking bullsh!t

I worked for the Highway Patrol in NC while I was in Grad School. They bought 100 Camaros and outfitted them with ZL1 engines from the Corvette. They got them over 140 on a little track (probably less than a mile long).

Now, I live in Baltimore, and I can tell you that nothing can outrun a Helicopter. My dad got stabbed in a car jacking last month. They had a helicopter in the area within 5 minutes, and that guy was arrested within 20 minutes.
