I currently have an abit bh6 motherboard with an intel celeron 300a overclocked to 374mhz. I would like to upgrade to a faster chip. What is the fastest chip supported with the latest bios?

The latest BIOS adds support for celeron ii 533 and 566, not sure about 600 and above, but I think they should be supported too.
Of course, P3s are also supported. Check out the abit BIOS download website for updates.

I need to find out what version my BH6 is. The Abit website didn't help me as there is no white sticker near the card slots nor is a version shown on boot up (that I can decipher).

I have a slocket and 2 new celermines to try out but I need to flash my old FL bios and need to know which version of the board I have.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

there is something on the isa slot that tells you the version number either 1.0 or 1.1

To Marho48 None-is an Iwill card minus the clamshell. Is mounted in a retention system for the original Slot 1 Celeron's. Just a tad lose; but I don't shake it (well not TOO much} around.

QN is a beta BIOS and I've seen a number of posts regarding problems after using it. I think NV is the latest official release and Abit's site says that a PIII600 is the fastest Katmai based compatible cpu. After flashing to the NV BIOS however, there is an option for 700mhz, so either Abit was anticipating a 700mhz Katmai or it just suggests the board may support cpu's in that range. I've heard that some of the Celeron II's work and/or that the celeron II 600a is the fastest supported chip.

I just bought a PIII-550 for mine (upgrading from c300A). On overclockers.com there is a listing showing that the 550 can be overclocked to 825 (though my overclocking days are over).

I am using a BH6 version 1.o running a Celeron II 633@980mhz with an Abit SlotKetIII. I am using the turbo mode (103.3mhz) bus speed. It is not the latest bios and I'm to lazy to reboot since it has been on 24/7 for several weeks now.:(

It has been cracking rc5 since I first installed it. I have 3 Celeron II's all do the dance @100 mhz. I must be one of the lucky ones.

Running a PIII 600e@800 QN bios, this is a final not the beta bios. Mb is now maxed out but its given me a couple years of use and most likely will give a couple more. I would think they will clock @ default multiplier X 133. Go for it.

Mine is also running with the QN bios, revision 1.0, Cuppermine 650E@810 without any problems (installed it in just 2 minutes ...).

A friend of mine is running a PIII 700E, also revision 1.0, QN bios ..
