How far will a Pentium 4 2.4b go?

I ordered that with an Asus P4PE. Aside from ram issues on average how far will this chip go on standard cooling?

Hey, i got one of those up to 3 ghz but it wasnt stable.... stable @ 2.83------BUT the computer was really well cooled (5 potent fans) and also the ram was actively cooled. and it was on a P4PE... no changing of the multipliers... Kingston 333 mhz ram....
Good luck!

I have one going through "testing" now. Right now I'm at 2.98 (166x18) at default voltage and looking stable. Can POST to 175MHz, 180 is a no-go at default voltage. Will know more after apply some voltage and do some stress testing.

It just depends on many factors.I got a late packed BO and it runs at 3ghz at 1.8v on an it7 max2 v2

I'm picking up a 2.4b C1 stepping today from a local store and I will let you know how high i can get it. I have corsair pc3200 ram so the ram shouldnt be the limiting factor..

Mine seems to top out at 3.24Ghz at +.05v w/ complete stability. Haven't tried with higher voltage.

edit: It's a C1 from Fry's.

Ok, I've been testing my 2.4b SL6EF C1 stepping chip for awhile tonight and I am very impressed.

Asus P4B533-E board with 1014 beta 2 bios. Onboard USB/LAN/RAID/Sound enabled
Corsair pc3200 CAS 2.5 XMS (Highest I could get it to go @ 2.7 volts was 430 mhz stable)
Geforce 4 ti 4200 (300/600)

With Memory @ 1:1 currently, I am at 174 mhz bus, processor @ 3.131 ghz and still going. I have the voltage @ 1.625 but I bet I could lower it without problems. Still testing.

BTW, the pack date on this processor was 11/27/02, from the phillipines

hmm, Mine's topped out at about 3150 (175 FSB) @ 1.625 volts.

Going to try 176 FSB later after the cpu has time to burn in.
