How far will a P2/233 overclock?

233MHz / 66 FSB = 3.5 multiplier

Will it go to 350MHz? (100FSB) Beyond, say 112FSB = 395MHz

No, 50% higher than stock speed is what we call a monster overclock. You can't get a 100% overclock with any processor.

...you never know... my Duron 600 will hits 900 no problems...and I've seen them go upto 1 Ghz with a volt mod.

309MHz so far using 103FSB and 3.0 multiplier (blew my mind that I could actually adjust)

Yeah, I actually had someone arguing with me a few days ago, because I had said that I overclocked an old Celeron 400 to 550mhz, without raising the fsb. He told me that wasn't possible with Intel chips, and I told him that if he'd been around computers as long as I had, he would have seen all kinds of strange things, including being able to change the multi on an Intel chip!:D

edit: And congrats, you blew right past the 50% OC'ed mark to 75%. What are you planning on doing with your new powerhouse pc? That's almost fast enough to play Divx movies.:D

Interesting, because I could swear my Celery 300A and P3/450 would ignore mb multi settings.

As for your new math ;), I've got a 32.6% overclock, not 75%
(309/233=1.326 versus 233/309=0.754. Actual calculation is 76/233=0.326, which is difference over original)

Haha, you caught me! I put the numbers into my calc backwards.:confused: Your math looks better. And I definitely was able to change the multi on my dad's old computer. It had an Epox mobo, but maybe it made a difference that it had an LX chipset, instead of the BX.

well, if you are talking %, i had a 486/33 overclocked to a 486/66. Stock voltage of course. Ran win3.11 and DOS fine with no problems. That is a high % overclock, no longer have the system now though :(

I used to have some P2 233's and they were unlocked and i was able to run them at 300mhz with a heatsink that had dual fans on them. One or two got up to 333. This is just using multiplier changes.

I have also seen some 233's with locked multiplers. Oh, they bring back some memories of early overclocking for me.
