Hi, just want to ask those guys who overclocked a duron processor, how far were you able to overclock your durons? what is your temperature and what type of motherboard and what type of overclocking? is it multiplier or via fsb?

I was thinking how far could I still get this old duron of mine, the original speed is 1.1ghz running at 49-50degrees. I am running this duron at 1287ghz. since the day I obtained this (overclocked via fsb adjustments) temp. at 51-53degrees. When I pushed this at further 1298ghz artifacts starts to come out and the system starts to restart and becomes unstable but the temp. is at 54degrees.

The board Im using has no multiliper setting. Here are the specs:

cpu: duron 1.1ghz
board: msi 746f ultra
ram: 1-pc266 128mb and 1-pc333 256mb

fsb 117mhz * 11 = 1287ghz. <- most stable

What Duron version does the "unlocking of cache" applicable? I have read somewhere that the extra cache for a duron can be unlocked. Is it applicable for morgans?

I ran my 1.6 at 166 fsb. I wouldn't try unlocking the extra cache. It could damage your cpu. Duron's are retaining their value pretty well. If you're not happy with it, I'd ebay it and switch to a barton core. But be sure you use a good heatsink. I tried running my barton with a duron heatsink. Big mistake. It slowly overheated, until permanent damage was aparrant.

Yeah, my Duron won't push past a 7 mhz overclock, rofl.. besides it's already hitting 72' C regularly. Somehow it's outlasted its life expectancy.
