How far do you live from work?

40 miles one way for me each day....450+ miles a week......10 hours a week driving......just be prepared for the total round trip a commute takes.

3 miles one way. I only work saturday and sunday. Other than that i use my grandmas car. 20 bucks a month for gas. 😀

Work out how busy its going to be when you travel to/from work.
If you take say an hour to get in every day, is it going to be worth it?

I just changed jobs (a new hobby) & went from a 70 mile RT commute to 14. It is the best thing I have ever done.

Add up not only the gas, but the time, wear & tear on your car, & wear & tear on your nerves in commuting, I got a nice raise & a better job too, but I was so tired of the rat race I would have taken a pay cut.

For me the math worked out to: 1k miles/month less commuting, and 22 hours/month less time driving, plus the decreased wear & tear on my autos.

That's awesome. I live close to work, too. But not that close. Not really caring what the price of fuel is incredibly liberating. Especially when you just living within your means.

40 miles. But I commute on the train and the station is less than 2 miles from my house. But the train ride is an hour.

Property line to property line is about 60ft 🙂 But from my apartment to the building I work in is like .25 miles.
