How far can I safely take the voltage on a barton 2500+?

My barton does 2200 mhz stock voltage. However I am beggining to push it. I have pc3200 crucial, and it seems to be doing just fine. I have an SLK- 900 A cooler with 92mm zalman

In order to get it to boot into windows at 215MHZ ( 430 ) I have to give it 1.8V The temp is 40.5 C which I think is pretty good.

Can overvolting hurt anything BESIDES for the processor?

Is this voltage too high? Oh yeah, im on a Soltek NV400-L64 Nforce 3 mobo

You're a-ok. What is the measured voltage going through the chip? If it's less than 1.8v, I'd go ahead and juice it up another .025v or .05v, depending on how many more MHz you get out of it.

I'd probably, with your cooling setup, stop at 1.9 for voltage. 1.9 is the ABSOLUTE MAX I would run my Barton. Usually boards undervolt so 1.9 will actually be 1.85-.875 which is ok.

Ok, CPUz reports my Voltage as 1.824 when I have it set at 1.8 so my board must overjuice a little. I am at 217 fsb now I am going to try to get my proc to 2.4 ghz....

As long as 1.8 is safe I am happy.

Ok, well I think I just hit my absolute top end. I have it at :

220 MHZ FSB

and 1.856 VCORE

That gives me 2.425 GHZ which is a nice 600 MHZ overclock. 200 MHZ over a 3200+

Processor temp is 42.5 Idle. Which for this amount of voltage I think is pretty good.

No clue if it will be stable or not yet.

If it is stable, will this be an OK voltage to keep it at? Also will the upped voltage hurt anything but the processor? thanks again

If it's stable, I'd say you're alright.

I was just communicating that burning the processor was a non issue. And, I can easily say the same thing about you. If you werent looking to start an argument about it, then you wouldnt have mentioned it.

Because I dont mind it burnning it out in the long run, but if its going to burn out in 10 minutes, its not really worth the hassle. I also wanted to know if it would affect anything other than the CPU

Well I decided to dial it back down to 2200 as it wasnt stable much higher than that... well I could get 2300 with upped voltage as stable but 2200 on stock voltage I prefer better.

Ill try again when I get some better ram.

1.9V max for me. As long as you can cool it well enough to run prime95.

1.8v for me with my old school Barton 2500+ at 12x195FSB. Plenty safe.

Since nobody ever answered your question, Johnbear, here's the answer: overvolting your processor effects nothing but the processor. As long as your motherboard doesn't have problems supplying the juice, all it's possible to burn up is the proc.

Me? I get 2.4Ghz, stable, on air. My chip will actually do 2.5Ghz, but it gets hot, because I haven't spent the money for an SLK-900a heatsink and a 92mm Tornado yet.
