assuming this stuff is right, i have a packet of papers from my sister, it says

86Th Generation
Nuadha-Fionn Fail , King of Ireland, Reigned 24 years
Slain by Brease, son of Art Imleach, he was married. Nuadha-Fionn Fail King of Ireland had the following children:
Simon Breas King of Ireland. Reigned 6 years, Slain by Sidna

it doesn't give a year when he lived

OTOH, it's probably 5-7 generations on my dad's side; the earliest person mentioned in our 40-page history of that side of the family immigrated to the US from Norway in the late 19th century.

My mom's side I wouldn't know.

On my dads side its crazy...we were from england and someone was a Duke or a Lord or something cause we traced it back 9 or 10 generations to the late 1200's to 1300's so i got coat of arms stuff and everything...now we're all poor redneck americans :D

Prior to the 1700's it gets a bit difficult to be certain, but there are links back as far as the 1100's , my mom has spent fourty years researching both sides of our family tree.

I am 12th generation American following my grandmother's lineage. That goes back to pilgrim days or something like that.

according to http://www.ucc.ie/celt/published/T100054/text037.html, nuadha fionn fail was the grandfather of simeon breac. who's to say that they are right though..

MacBeth, king of Scotland. Died 1057. I'm sure that with such a historical figure, there'd be no problem tracing back from there, but nobody's bothered because, hell, he's just so cool :p

We hit royalty in several other countries and in several other time periods. From riches to rags, in less than 1000 years.

I've been told that I'm a direct decendent to King Harald, the Norseman King who died in the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Whether or not it's true I have no idea though.

My Dad's side I can trace back to the Revolutionary War. My Grandmother is a DAR.

My Mom's side I can trace back to the late 1800s when her ancestors came here from Sweden and settled in Northern Michigan.
