How Expensive are your Utilites???

Mine are too damn high. No news there. They are really raping us for Natural Gas in the Northeast. My electric is only $50 but the gas is $125!

Both of my meters are indoors and the utility company (BGE) refuses to come in the house because of my dog! I read both on the day of the reading and phone the readings in. I even use an Excel spreadsheet to calculate exactly what the bill will be.

I keep the thermostat at 68°F all day long and it slides back to 62°F after midnight. Gas USED to be the best way to heat. Now I'm thinking about cutting the T-stat back to 55°F at night and 64°F during the day and using a few supplementary electric (portable) heaters.

Anyone else absolutely hate writing checks to pay for stuff you can't even see? Second runner up has to be insurance! :|

I let my waterbed heat my room to cut down my parents' heating bill. Yeah, it's cold, but I kinda like it that way. Makes the bed a very nice place to be.

The really scary thing is my phone bill. They're usually 10 pages long, & last month's was $230.

Yeah . . . my gas bill has been running about $130. The sick thing is, I keep my thermostat as far down as it will go - we're talking 50 degrees here. Great for computers, but not for me! My electric is usually around $30, and the phone (local only, no long distance) is $50.

I can't wait for summer . . . it never gets hot enough around here to require AC, so I can start saving some money instead of paying for heat I ain't gettin'!

It's no better here in the Midwest. I don't have anything that's natural gas, which is probably the first year I'm thankful of that, but some of my friends heating bills have tripled!! It's amazing. $500.00 per month utility bills this winter for them where they are normally under $200.00.

My electric has gone up as well, but only by about $15.00 per month. Still....

OMG! Perhaps you should start a business account so you can write off some of that! Internet telephony is another option as well! I really like the idea of dialtone over IP. Too bad the prick phone companies will whine and kill it.

My Gas bill went from 47 a couple months ago to 129!!!!

It seems like all of the extra money that I am getting for overtime is going to the damn gas!!! And we are not even using the heat like we were a couple months ago...

I heard that oil for heating has gone up as well...My Gran here in Charlotte uses oil for heating and she had to pay twice as much as before!!!!

THIS SUCKS!!!

If I could afford it, I would put in an electric heat pump... Even though we are moving away, we are still keeping our house to rent and I bet the high gas bill for even lack of use will be a factor for keeping renters...

WE don't even turn the heat on in our apartment (4th floor, hot!) and our bill has doubled because of the common usage BS to heat the common areas on the building. Really pisses me off.

Electric: (stove and appliances) $60.38 for 480 kWh...that's $.1258/kWh total, including taxes and fees. Probably not too many who can beat that (even in California).
