How easy is it to OC an A64 3000+ with stock HSF?

Title says it all. About how far could it be pushed without requiring additional cooling? This would be using a DFI Lanparty UT nF3 250GB.

S754 right? What kind of memory are you using, depends really, you can get anywhere from 2.2-2.8, no way of knowing.

you will most likely max the chip out with stock cooling. look at my sig, im running at 2.655GHz stock cooling with AS5. idle=33C load=50C. i had to raise the vcore a bit, from 1.4 to 1.52.
oh, you are talking about a newcastle  still, you will can pretty damn far w/o a new cooler.

I was looking at using Crucial RAM, just because I've used it many times and it's always treated me well. Is there a better option? The Crucial stuff is 512MB PC3200 for $75 shipped.

Also, is there a definitive guide for all the basic information on AMD processors somewhere? I'm not very familiar with the different models (newcastle, etc) because I've been out of the loop for a while, and reading through all the news articles on here gives me some idea, but I still have many questions.

no need for after market cooling with these, thier cheap all aluminum sink and crippled fan is just fine for high levels of overclocking..

There's cheaper value RAM out there that's still good quality like Mushkin and Corsair, but I'm a Crucial fan too. I'm putting a gig of Crucial into my new rig.

lol thats so pathetic
AMD64's can OC to very high levels on stock cooling, whereas the new Prescotts have to THROTTLE DOWN with their stock coolers :roll:
