i stay in indianapolis. I want to buy a PS3 for my younger brothers @ home as a gift. i was wondering-

  1. 1. i dont know how early should i go to wait inline for a ps3 on the launch date, and.
  1. 2. what is the best way to save my position in the line if i have to go to the bathroom or go to get some thing to eat for 1 hour or 2 hours?

To answer this question, you can think about, How early did people go to wait in line for the 360 @ launch and actually get it in a city and what they took with themselves to stay warm and kill time??

Unless you already have a pre-order...dont even waste your time... you'll be standing in line for 3 months.

If you have a pre-order, better consider the star wars approach... camp outside for 3 days before. Dont forget to bring the gas generator, TV & xbox 360 + games & movies.
Heck, bring a few systems, and charge by the hour, to play, per person.

Dont be morons. Have about 5 people who all want a PS3 and know eachother take shifts. SO that not 1 perosn is waiting in line for a long ass time. Therefore whoever has the morning shift releives the dude whos been sitting there most of the night.

how much profit do people expect to make on ebay by selling a $600 console? doesn't seem like it's worth all the trouble.

Most places won't let you do that. You have to be in line the entire time with only brief breaks to get food, go to the bathroom etc.

It would really suck if 1 hour before launch the line in front of you balloons by 100 people.

judging from how much xbox360's went for and how crazy people are, it'll probably sell for $1000+ easily.

24+ hours in snow, i just hope spme other store starts a pre order soon b4 launch, fingers crossed for toysrus.

Some stores don't take preorders but will be getting some PS3s. Best Buy, Circuit City, Walmart, Target...

Good luck with that. 😀 That's a good way to get your ass kicked by a bunch of nerds.

thank god i preordered my wii.

but i would definitely go on wednesday night-thursday afternoon sometime. bring blankets, food, drinks, anything warm, gameboy/ds/psp, books. trust me, it'll be worth the wait, even though i dont find any of the ps3 launch games appealing.

good luck!

i forgot about costco, i may have to check that out. i'm planning on going with my roommate wednesday night.

I'm going to ask my local CostCo how many units they plan on getting.

I wouldn't mind sitting in line for 5-6 hours but anything more than 8 is just crazy.

Just a reminder, you can make lots of money in a regular job - and you don't have to sit doing nothing in the cold.

Hop in the car and drive to the local 24 hour walmart in redneckville USA next to the interstate and arrive about 20 minutes early. Get in line behind Jethro, Joe Bob, and Uncle Walt and buy the damn thing at midnight.

i'm hoping to turn close to $1000 off the ps3. i'm on salary, i'm the boss, and waiting a day or two in the cold isn't that big of a deal to me. i'm planning on renting a house in december with some friends, so some extra cash would help offset the crazy ass deposit.

too bad costco's around here dont actually enforce the 1-hr advance opening for business card members or id seriously consider doing the wait. im betting a few of the people waiting are gold members but since they dont enforce it im not going to bother.

I never thought about that and I upgraded to Executive membership a few months ago.

I'd be pissed though if they didn't enforce it.

then you should be complaining.

If you got a executive or business membership. especially the executive people. they don't pay 100 bucks a year to not get in earlier than everyoen else.

Plus from what happened last time, costco has vouchers and hand them out. they won't let it be a free for all.

I will hope to grab one via circuit city online like last year with the 360. hopefully I can flip it for huge profit.

i love this thinking. I have a feeling that the ps3 market will not be as hot and you shouldn't correlate the future from the past.
