Odd! Virginia is second to the top and DC is the bottom. I guess people in DC who want jobs should cross that bridge. Then they can go to work for a beltway bandit and cross back over to the job.

Tell me about it. I still am wondering how the hell he got elected. From what I'm hearing, Benson did something to upset the police and fireman's unions, and they got behind Lynch. Kerry was the only democrat I voted for, I voted for Gregg, Bass, and Benson. I really like Benson too, he stood up to the Bush administration in regards to getting drugs cheaper from Canada, and didn't just tow the party line.

VA is #2 at 3.2%. The rate is just over 2% in the county I live in (Henrico) and it's probably fair to say that if you're unemployed here it's because you choose to be.

Oh look... (blue) MA, VT, NJ, etc... have low unemployment..

Oh look... (red) Texas, Alabama and those pesky Alaskans are above average.

Is that the sound of a bad study? How about this for another idea in the same fashion. Texas and CA share borders with Mexico. Michigan, NY share borders with Canada. They're all above average on unemployment. HMM.......

ya but on this board, 5.4% unemplyment under a conservative govt is a disaster, but 7.1% under a liberal govt is heaven. I guess different parties are are held to different standards.

yeah. i agree there is a double standard. But there are 16.5 million unemployed in the US (that is larger than our whole workforce)
we have 2.1 million unemployed.

The unemployed all have healthcare, social security, and welfare which is livable.
I go to one of the best universities in the country and there are people here who have unemployed parents. It doesnt affect our country much as we have good social programs.

I'd like to see a lower rate...but this is hard to do with a cold climate and very dispersed population...
We do well for ourselves.

The county just north of me is steady at 3% unemployment, the county south of where I live is hovering around 10% unemployement and sometimes goes as high as 14% with seasonal layoffs.
