How does voltage come into play with overclocking with the Duron?

I currently have my Duron 600 and 950 with 1.75 voltage. What exactly does this have as an effect in terms of anything? I could actually boot with only 1.7 voltage and ran things fine but i crashed in quake 3 pretty hard once so i upped the voltage a little. Can someone explain what exactly is being done tweaking the voltage and its effect on the cpu in terms of stability and heat? thanks... i couldnt find a topic on this with a search.

With more voltage you get both added stability and added heat. However, with a good HSF, the increase of heat would be acceptable.

Another note: I am yeat to hear anyone have any problems running the Durons or TBirds at 1.85v or even 1.9v.
