Started to play FarCry 3 today.

Launched it from Steam. By the time Uplay did all it's updating stuff and made an account, etc. it took 85 minutes. Kiss them. Been doing this over 30 years, I fail to understand how this is progress.

Ubi Makes Shitty Games!

BS. i have enjoyed many Ubi games.

I really have to wonder what some of you guys are doing on your systems to have so much trouble playing games or getting games to work or DRM issues. I rarely have any issues like this.

You know, FarCry 3 came free with my Radeon 7950. And after jumping through the hoops to get the game code through Ubi's website, then uPlay . . . I never got around to actually playing it. After rebuilding my desktop to Haswell in September, I never re-installed uPlay. Thought about getting FC3 on the Steam Sale for 7 bucks, but apparently, it also goes through uPlay. So, screw it.

Best thread ever! Ubisoft doesn't put auto saves in the places you want; "omg they ruined everything!"

10/10; would read again!

Even if we agree that Steam is "different" and focus on Origin and Uplay, I find it hard to boycott either.

I tried for the longest time, BF4 is my one and only Origin game. My boycott of Origin didn't change a thing in the industry, it had no impact whatsoever, all it did is make me miss out on BF3.

Yes, Uplay is buggy and a nuisance, it's games have to be installed on internal storage and it's cloud saves are dodgy.

With all the grinding F2P's, COD and it's influence, shutdowns and bastardizing of great franchises there simply aren't enough good games for gamers to ignore uplay and origin. They killed R6 and Ghost Recon and last Hawx was a fiasco. Yet boycotting would have meant missing out on, in order of relevance, Splinter Cell, FC3 and AC4. The latter two alone are worth the hassle of uplay. Then there are Watch Dogs and The Division.

Largest issue I have with PC gaming are the fact that you have about 4 different clients just for Windows. Each can vary in prices and even games, then you often would have different login ID's for each one, different UI's, there is no real standard for anything.
But at least Valve tries to have a standard, even if it's their own and at least Ubi integrated Uplay into Steam games as apposed to EA that would rather force gamers into loading their own clients. Stardock doesn't make their games exclusive so their client isn't a problem.

But just to have a gaming rig means you have to clutter all sorts of files and services on your HD that don't really need to exist. Just makes it all less efficient and streamlined and is what I really enjoy about console gaming despite the more limited potential and options but PC's so far have no really pushed much potential but at least Valve is trying and I think SteamOS and Mantle will help a lot in pushing that potential and streamlining.

Those are the types that should be playing Ubi games on consoles. PC gaming has always been like that and will never be able to change without every publisher having to adhere to standards.

Even with having 2 DRMs open at once and not being able to skip the cutscenes this was one of my most enjoyable games of 2013. Played it all the way thru in 2 days.
