When you have a headache, flu, cold, upset stomach or even diaherrea, we do this:
1. Grab a sharp pin or a needle
2. Lightly prick or sting your fingers (preferably thumb) in the region just above where your finger nails start.
3. Do it just enough so that a drop of blood or two will come out.
4. In most cases, you will see a dark to black colored blood come out and you will instantly feel better!
I don't believe this is placebo, I remember doing it once and I felt the headache go away as if it was being 'lifted' in an instant.
Their logics is that when you're sick, it often results in bad blood circulation (not the cause). And by 'extracting' the bad blood in the very ends of your limbs (hence your fingers and your toes) it immediately clears your system and makes you feel better.
In severe cases of being sick, people also do both thumbs and both toes...

I guess, it's a Korean thing!? We call it, "chim dda gi" (slang for acupuncture).
I just asked my chinese friends around and they never heard of it... Any Koreans here who knows what I'm talking about?
