How does this trade sound?

I will be trading the following:

60Gb PS3 (1 year old)
2 controllers
2 year Best Buy PRP

In return I will receive:

XBox 360 Halo Edition (2 months old)
2 controllers with charge kits
3 months XBox Live
All original accessories
2 year Best Buy PRP

I think this is pretty fair. I'm looking to dump the PS3, as all my friends have a 360 and I want to play online.

He's getting a slightly better deal in terms of cost of the items, but if I were in your position I'd definitely take that deal. Don't either of you have any games?

I would save the cash for a 360 and keep the PS3 so that you don't regret letting it go later down the line.

60gb PS3 is no longer in production, halo edition xbox is just pretty colors. I dont feel this is a fair trade. I wouldn't let your PS3 go for an "even" trade since hardware BC is no longer around.

You can't get hardware BC with a PS3 anymore, and I still wouldn't be comfortable with the 360 longevity record.

Right, the PS23 is worth a little more to the right buyer who wants full hardware BC, but the difference isn't huge and the PS3 is 10 months older.

The Halo edition is either 90nm Zephyr or 65nm Falcon. It's too soon to tell about long-term reliability but initial evidence is that both are much more reliabile than the original design. Plus it comes with the 2-year PRP.

Based on wanting online play with 360-owning friends, the trade makes sense if you can't afford to or don't want to own both consoles.

He is definately right. The Xbox 360 Halo Version is just a different color, that's all. You should try getting a 360 premium + cash. Dont waste money on a pretty looking xbox when all you need it for is to play games, not to stare at for hours thinking to yourself "why the hell did i spend $70 dollars extra to make it look pretty"

I don't really care that it is a halo edition.

I was most attracted to the fact that it is newer, comes with an additional wireless controller, and two charge kits.

What's the consensus on whether or not the quality of PS3 games will continue to improve? Based on reviews I have seen, it appears that COD: 4 is just as good on the PS3 as it is on the 360.

I don't play my PS3 very often, but I was heavily disappointed with Madden 2008 and it's performance relative to the 360.

Assassin's Creed is very comparable, some reviews give the edge to 360, some to the PS3.

Exclusives like Uncharted: Drake's Fortune have been well-reviewed for graphics quality.

But if your main focus is online, and your friends have 360s, you need one too. No one offers cross-platform gaming, even Unreal Tournament 3 dropped it last I checked.

I like my PS3, but the 360 is the king of online gaming right now and the PS3 shows no signs of catching up any time soon.

I just got another offer which I like much better.

I give:
60gb PS3
2 Controllers
Madden 08
MLB 2k7
COD 3
2 year BB warranty.

He gives:

Xbox 360 Elite (1 month old)
Madden 08
NBA 2k8
Halo 3
2 controllers with chargers
$75 cash.

I like the sound of this one better, and may go through with it.

Meh, I'd never trade a PS3 for a 360. 360 just isn't reliable enough for me to have as my only gaming console (even though I've gone through 2 PS3s already...some luck, huh?). Plus, all of my friends play on the PS3.

Actually, I always buy my games on PS3 because "my friends play on PS3." Usually we never play at the same time, though...so, I'm pretty content playing with strangers. Not only that, but the PSN runs a lot smoother for me than Live ever has (I think this is an issue with my personal network, so don't follow that too closely).

But hey, it does sound like a good deal. If you're set on getting a 360, I'd definitely take the deal.

Seems like a reasonable trade. Then again I want to get a PS3 for Christmas so I may see more of the "good" of the PS3 right now. You can't go wrong with the 360 now though.

now thats tempting, as long as theres no problem using the microsoft rrod warranty as the new owner. and you get your madden 08, sounds good.

My only concern is the lack of BC in newer PS3 models. However, if you don't care about being able to play PS1 or 2 games, the trade sounds fair.

It sounds like you like sports games so I'd say 360 is the way to go. EA shows no signs of fixing their issues with framerates on PS3.

Just wait till you suckers buy Orange Box. I've heard that it is really really bad on the ps3.

I think I just might.

Does anyone know if the 360's MFR warranty is transferable?
