I just wanted to post this and see if there are any obvious incompatibilities that I over looked, or
even suggestions for changing some components.
The potential system:

EPOX 8KHA+
Athlon XP 1700+ (Retail)
Antec 1040B case (400w)
Seagate Barracuda IV (IDE100, 40GB, 7200rpm)
Creative Labs SB Live 5.1 - OEM (from Newegg)
VISIONTEK Xtasy 5632 GEFORCE2 GTS-V 4X/2X 32MB AGP - OEM (from Newegg)
Sony Floppy Drive
2 - 256MB Kingston PC2100 Non-ECC

Also, I'll be taking the following stuff from my current system.
Mitsumi 4x CD-R
32x CD ROM
3Com 10/100 NIC

Any problems here?
Thanks

😎

Yeah, ur missing the Arctic Silver II. 😉

But seriously, where's the power supply??? All these things don't power themselves you know.

Antec 1040B case (400w)

says 400w right there =)

Only change I might make would get a Gainward GF2 Ti450, newegg has them for 99 bucks. the GTS-V is supposed to be slower than an old regular GTS i think.

Otherwise looks good to me =)

Ahh I guess so. Umm, how u gonna hook up that Barracuda without IDE cables?
Nah, you system looks good. I'm getting something similar as soon as I can settle on a motherboard...

Doesn't the 8KHA+ have a VIA southbridge? If so, watch out with that Creative sound card...you'd be in for some trouble.

I'm building a system similar at the moment actually🙂 Same mobo and sound card. Thanks for the warning about the sound card, what soundcard do you recommend as a replacement?

Game Theatre XP, Philips Acoustic Edge or Turtle Beach Santa Cruz are great cards for lower cost.

I'd change the vid card to a Geforce 3 Ti200 card... You'll get more out of it and be able to play more current games at good framerates...

Also, why not some Crucial PC2100? It's cheaper from what I've seen... Everything else looks good but the sound card dude!

Any of the sound cards that kreno suggested...or if you want one for about half the cost, but works good as well, try the herucles fortissimo 2. I built a system a little bit ago and put that card in...sounds real nice.

Oh, and I also second the motion for crucial 2100. 16% off if you get it from the hot deal forum, I believe!

Get it soon too, price is going up!

Your telling me. It was about $27 each for 256 stick about 3 weeks ago. Luckily,
I'm getting the Kingston for free, so I don't think anyone would argue with free.
