how does this system look?

I'm building my first system and am about to purchase my materials. Just wanted to get some responses on this:

Case: Any case is good with a 350W PS
Processor: pentium 2.8 ghz
Mobo: Asus P4t533 (this has built-in RAID controller?)
RAM: Any DDR ram is fine, right?
Videocard: Geforce4 Ti4600 (everyone has good things to say about it)
Drives: 2 WD 80 gigs as a RAID 0
Sound card: Soundblaster Live (decent enough)
Firewire: ADS Pyro 1394

The only thing question is the mobo (I'll check before buying for a built-in RAID controller but if anyone wants to make a suggestion) and the RAM (I assume from posts on here that most people are fine with DDR).


One last question: besides a keyboard, mouse, monitor, and fan, is there anything else I need to buy?

make sure you get a good power supply... i would suggest the antec truepower 380 for your setup. might as well get a combination antec case/psu. would be cheaper and their cases are good. get either crucial or samsung memory. samsung will be cheaper and is good.

You won't be able to use DDR RAM with the P4T533. It takes 32bit RDRAM. Its the only board I can think of that does. Basically it means you don't have to use sticks in pairs like you do with 16bit RDRAM. I have the P4T533-C which I think is pretty much the same other then using the 16bit RDRAM. I dod believe the P4T533 supports RAID.

Ti4600 cards are nice. They are not at the top of the pack anymroe but they are still very quick. If its in your budget though I would get a 9700 Pro card. I have the ATI one and really like it. Its also the fastest thing you can get right now.

Don't forget CD/DVD-rom drive to install the OS.
