I'm going to be submitting my resume to a number of places looking for a simple retail stocking type job. That or a sales clerk type position. Given this position how does the following resume look to you? Any suggestions on things you would change/add?

UPDATED 2

Ok I've implemented a few more small changes. Not going to make all the changes people mentioned. I think it's looking better thanks for the suggestions guys.

I didn't think you really needed a resume for a retail type position?

PS ... if one's nearby, it's worth applying for a position at costco ... my little bro's been workin for them for a while now and he really really likes working for them ... Seems like they pay their retail stocking or sales clerk people decently well ...

Delete skills section
Look up ACR and STAR resume writing and rewrite all your bullets
Add an additional section
Remove high school

They ask for a resume for just about any position. In fact I've been told to apply online at one super market chain. More and more hiring is moving to online application and resume submition for even low level positions like this.

Thanks. Yeah I'm going to look into that, that section does seem out of date to me. I've heard of STAR, will look it up.

Don't I risk looking overqualified though for a low level retail position if I write up too much?

For example I was actually acting manager of the 7-11 for a while but decided to leave that out cause of the positions I'm applying for now.

The primary focus of your education section should be to highlight the educational credentials you've earned, not the schools you went to. Indeed, if you've earned any degrees, I can't tell from your resume. Also, if you're currently pursuing a degree program but haven't completed it yet, it should be listed as in progress.

Also, unless NCIX is structured such that each individual store is actually its own corporate entity, I would not list them as separate positions.

I agree that's padding somewhat. But I don't have much else to add to the resume at this point.

It looks like you're aiming at an entry-level position, so I don't think it's necessary for you to pad.

Also, it looks like you've got some gaps in your job history. You'll want to make sure you have a good explanation for them.

Combine the two NCIX stints. It serves no purpose to have them separate, and does nothing except raise questions in my mind (as the hiring manager) as to why they are separate, "did something go wrong?"

Thanks. Yeah you're right. I've merged them, however this DOES hide the employment gap that was there.

Your education section still doesn't make it obvious if you've earned any degrees. If you list a school and major on your resume, it's going to be assumed that you've earned a degree in that major unless you specify otherwise. Listing a verifiable credential on your resume that you haven't earned could get your resume tossed or it could get you fired down the road.

If you've earned a degree, you should list the name and level of the degree (e.g. Bachelor of Science, Computer Science) that you earned at the school. If you didn't earn a degree, you'll want to note that by saying something along the lines of "Coursework in X".

Also, since your resume doesn't have a lot of content, you may want to consider increasing the font size slightly (slightly!). Not only will that make the resume seem a bit larger, but for companies that scan a paper resume into their system using OCR, it's easier for the computer to read.

Put your Education first, then job experience, then skills.

Also, your skills sections sound like you are describing more job experiences.

Also, don't say stuff like "picked up NCIX..." or "in a few days without much training". Instead, say something like "Quickly learned NCIX POS..." ending with "with minimal training"
