How does this recording sound?

I do miss living out in the boonies!

I remember the vivid lightning from this nocturnal thunderstorm waking me up at 4:00 am...

I run and grab my DAT machine and mics and was awake for the rest of the morning. This storm went on for a good hour; very soothing rain with quite a bit of thunder like this. No real close hits where I was, but not too far away lighting struck a tree and killed 7 cows that were standing under it for "cover". :Q

Thunderstorm

As for the filename, it was recorded September 14, 1991.

Cheers!

Sounds great w/ headphones on. Scared the sh!t outta me when I had my speakers on...was quiet at first so I turned it up then BOOM :Q:Q:Q

😀

Wasn't too impressed until I turned up the recording and put my Sennheiser SD-580 headphones on. Cranked up the volume a bit and I have to say for a homemade recording, it was quite intimate and had great presence. I felt like I was in the midst of a storm. Nice sharkeeper.

Very beginning of storm.

This was the first clap that I recorded that night. Notice how the crickets quiet down as well from the thunder! Most of the lightning was overhead, not cloud to ground. It still has a lot of punch to it. This recording is best listened with headphones as well. The depth and imaging is quite good.

Around 24 seconds into this you may hear a small dog bark. She didn't care too much for thunderstorms. We have a Jack Russell now and he runs around the house like a psycho barking when the thunder is loud. That happened both yesterday and today!

Cheers!
