k i was looking for some ram that would overclock well with an X2 3800+, and i came up with this..

i read some reviews, both on websites, and newegg user reviews, and i thought id get some AT members opinions before buying =)

i believe these are TCCD chips, not sure, but how has this ram worked for u guys in terms of stability and overclocking?

EDIT: im using an epox EP-9NPA+Ultra, goes up to 3.1 volts.

Anand has gotten them up to DDR600 (300mhz), but DON'T OVERVOLT. TCCD chips don't do well with more than 3.0V.

I have the older rev. 2 which is the TCCD chips and they overclock like crazy, mine will hit 287mhz DDR574, but they are getting harder to find. The new rev2's are TCC5 chips and I don't know much about them, but I don't think they are quite as good as the older TCCD, and quite a bit cheaper

TCCD on the Brainpower PCB probably.

290-300FSB is reachable, these dont need more then 2.8V.

Some people actually GAINED mhz by lowering the voltage.

everything i've heard says tcc5 isn't as good as tccd... however, ocz claims they weren't able to release oczpc5000 until tcc5 came along...

so i have no idea..

i read somewhere tcc5 is inherently equal to tccd, or even better.. at least thats what ocz says about the chip, also that it shoudl be able to hit the same ceiling as tccd chips.

however, i read somewhere ELSE that tcc5 is binned at 240 mhz whereas tccd is 250 mhz (in the ocz plat el rev 2s).

anyone have a clue whats going on?

The OCZ guys say TCC5 is an improved version of TCCD. There's more consistency, so everyone should be able to reach similar overclocks, rather than the "cherry-picked" effect.

lol TCC5 is not as good as TCCD, it is not able to reach as high as speeds as the old tech (TCCD). Although OCZ claims it is just as good .. lucky i got my TCCD OCZ palt rev 2's at the time i did .. :D

yes... like i said pc5000 or the special dfi version pcXXXX plat version wasn't available until tcc5 came along according to ocz...

then again... tcc5 is OLD... there is an article on it on AT from last year sometime so its hard to believe tcc5 was available back then but no one took advantage of its ability..

The 3200 Plat Rev 2 uses TCC5's now. From my experience, TCC5 is just as good as TCCD. OCZ didn't release PC4800 Plat and PC5000 Plat until we started using the TCC5 chips. If you want guaranteed TCCD, we have the new PC4800 Elite Edition that does 2-2-2 timings at DDR400 and 2.5-4-4 timings at DDR600.

BTW: For what it's worth, I got my TCC5's up to 315 at 2.5-4-3-10 on the DFI NF4 Ultra-D at 2.8v so I can't say that TCC5's are worse than TCCD.
