It's like satire but real life instead. Do they make a piece of armor that that cop is not wearing? I mean, is that toe armor?
Looks like they could use some gauntlets IMO. I'll go ahead and write up a RFP on that.
I feel like someone is trying to spoon feed me manufactured outrage and I don't like the taste of it.
A protester is grabbed by police officers in riot gear after she refused to leave the motor way in front of the the Baton Rouge Police Department Headquarters in Baton Rouge, La.
Legendary lol
I get they are wearing riot gear to protect themselves from, well, riots but just like the tank thing that rolled through the streets of Ferguson it doesn't exactly work to deescalate the situation. The police shouldn't be gearing up to combat its citizens, but that seems to be the trend. And the best part is that they get to pay for via civil asset forfeiture.
what if she a sniper friend perched up in a building somewhere? what if she had a backpack with an IED in it? fact is that there are some scumbug asshats out there....how do they tell the difference?

I don't have a good answer for that, but the police should not be at war with the rest of the population. I agree their own personal safety is a concern and with good reason, but good law enforcement works to deescalate situations and bring peace not make it worse.
The news release said one Baton Rouge police officer had several teeth knocked out by a projectile thrown Saturday night at the BRPD headquarters rally.
ST. PAUL, Minn. - More than 100 people were arrested and 21 officers were injured after protesters brought I-94 to a screeching halt for more than five hours Saturday night.
Authorities say during the course of the protests on 94 and later, on Grand and Dale, 21 officers from multiple agencies suffered injuries. The injuries were primarily caused by fireworks, rocks, bricks, glass bottles and chunks of concrete that were directed at officers, some hitting them in the head. St. Paul Police said someone threw a Molotov cocktail at officers, as well.
On Sunday evening, St. Paul Police learned one of the officers injured last night had a large concrete block dropped on his head. That officer is now suffering from a spinal fracture.
One word: propaganda.
It's already been described in this thread that she was blocking the road, and you know full well that she did so in her prettiest dress because she knew there were going to be cameras watching her... and that her nearly-inevitable arrest might spark another riot after an "innocent" and pretty girl is taken away by the mean, bad, evil police.
Propaganda from top to bottom.

I was a newspaper photographer working in North Los Angeles County after the Rodney King trial verdict. Myself and several other photographers got to a location outside a theme park where an angry crowd of several hundred had gathered. One of the photographers at the scene was wearing a helmet, and we laughed at him until the bottles and rocks started flying in our direction.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to go home at the end of your shift. I don't understand folks who think cops get paid enough to take more chances than they already do.
Was this propaganda too?
Really I want to understand. Isn't everytime someone willingly gets arrested as a form of protest propaganda?

Oh I fully get it, my dad was in law enforcement and I grew up around cops and I have three cousins that currently are one. There's nothing wrong with personal safety and given how these protests have turned into riots they have every right to want to protect themselves.
There comes a point though that they respond with too much show of force, such as this in Ferguson:

LOL, the wall of armored cops and she was the one blocking the road.
Perhaps... but it would certainly help to not be fighting for a lie.
BLM sees themselves like the man in front of tanks, genuinely risking their life standing up to tyranny... while at the same time KNOWING the police officers are NOT allowed to just mow them down like the tanks of a tyrannical government could.
It's far different to protest a lie (that cops indiscriminately kill black people is blatantly false) AND to do so from a place of relative safety that allows them to attack but not be hit back without severe outcry. This is deceptive, cowardly, and downright revolting. The two are most definitely NOT the same.
