How does this look for a system?

Getting ready to build my new system. Budget is $1100 not including monitor/keyboard/mouse. I won't be overclocking, just running at the standard 333 FSB. Will be mostly used for gaming.

Asus A7n8x Deluxe mobo (want the S-ATA support for future upgrade)
XP 2500 Barton
(2) 512MB Kingston HyperX PC2700
Radeon 9700 Pro
WD 80GB SE (7200rpm 8MB cache)
Samsung CDRW/DVD (348BRAS w/8MB cache)
Logitech Z-340 speakers
Antec SLK3700AMB case (+ an extra 120mm SmartFan for front)

Looks good. You don't really need 2 sticks of 512MB RAM, though. 2x 256 is good enough. Use that extra cash to bump your speakers up to the z540 or z640. What monitor are you using?

Looks nice to me, sort of similar to my setup... (but I'm nuts and have the Z-680s).

1gb might be overkill if you are only gaming, but if you're under budget, who cares. ;)

IMO memory is about as cheap as it will be for a while. Plus for gaming, 512MB is merely adequate (that's what I have now). 768 would probably be fine, but it's not much more for 1GB. My monitor is a Sony CPD-E240B. It's only 17" but it's crisp and handles all the resolutions I want. The reason I'm only going for a 2.1 speaker system is beacuse I have nowhere to put a 4.1 or 5.1 system. Plus I game with headphones most of the time due to sleeping kids/wife.

Big thing for me is that this is expandable. I'll have an open DDR slot to go to 1.5 GB if needed in the future, could go up to the top Barton processor, Serial-ATA.

That will make a very nice gaming rig. It's very similar to an AMD version of the P4 rig I'm running. I recently upgraded to 1Gb of RAM and I'm happy I did it. Of course I spent $7 on my speakers so...
