I just ordered an X1600XT because of a slickdeals post. I'm wondering how it compares to my Gigabyte X800 or an older 9800 Pro. It's intended use is UT2004 @ 1280x1024.

If it's just a vanilla X800 then the X1600XT will be quicker.

With respect to current generation cards, the X1600XT falls between a 6600GT and 6800GS. Previous generation cards are also viable options, but they lack more advanced shading, lighting, aliasing and filtering support. From a performance perspective, the X800GTO will run with an X1600XT and an X800GTO2 will be out in front...

At the end of the day, the X1600XT is a decent and capable card. From what i've seen, pricing in the US is a little off tho... it's priced so close to a 6800GS that you might as buy a 6800GS as it performs better.

Well, with that slickdeals post, I ordered the 1600 for 71 usd delivered. It's a refurb from HP but it could also be an erroneous offering. I'll see how it goes, but it still only seems to have a 128-bit memory bus.

All 1600s have a 128 bit memory bus. The XT just has ram clocked nearly twice that of the Pro.

Are you sure that HP deal last night was not for a Pro? I saw no mention of XT. Even so, it'll be close enough to a 6600GT for $30 less. You can't beat that.
