How does the Noctua NH-U 12 compare?

After reading the Anandtech review of Conroe I was ready to go out and buy a Tuniq Tower so I would be ready to CO my E6600 once I actually bought the CPU. Looking all over the net I found out that the Tuniq Tower is sold out at every store I could find and nobody knows when they will be back in stock.

I looked around and I am currently thinking about getting the Noctua NH-U 12 with two 120mm fans.

Assuming my MB will let me get to 400 Mhz FSB do you OCing experts think I would be able to keep an E6600 cool enough to be stable at 3.6 Ghz with this heat sink?

Can anybody recomend a good site that deals with OCing and heatsinks?

Very late reply. I have this cooler which I used on my 4400 It'll be paired /w my E6700 whenever I receive it. Great heatsink, the best I've ever owned. Kept my 4400 @ Stock 27c full load 40c. If you get one don't bother using the dual fan setup, it doesn't work well.

Appears to be a great heatsink. Keep in mind a Scythe Ninja with the optional fan (which you have to purchase seperately) is close to the same thing as a Tuniq T-120.

What mobo are you getting?

I was going to get the Asus board (the one that is $250) but after seeing the great over clocks that the Gigabyte DS3 is getting I am leaning towrads that one. If I get that one I can dump that $100 I saved into a 1900XT instead of a 7900GT.

As for the cooling I am now learning toward the Ninja too. NewEgg.com has it for $40 with a fan link. I am pretty sure that will let me reach my goal of hitting 3.6 GHz on my E6600 without sounding like a jet taking off.

Until NewEgg.com gets the E6600 in I will continue to read up on all the componets for my PC and make the decision on my parts right before I buy them.

However when the same fan is used, the Ninja + and Mine comes closest to the top dog which is the Tuniq Tower.

Given a choice between Mine and Nija, I'd take the Mine. It's a much better design when it comes to mounting to a 775 socket. It also has a superior fan mount.

The other one to keep an eye on is the new Scythe Infinity. It could displace TT as top dog based on early reviews.

I am sorry but the guy?s avatar (AzraelDarkangel) in that second link you posted reminds me of the genius programmer from Grandma's Boy. Who the hell does he think he is? Neo?

The Mine looks cool and all but what I like about the Ninja is that you can mount the fan on any of the 4 sides so that you can direct the air to the exhaust fans on your case. With the Mine, and many others, the attached fan sometimes does not point in the right direction. Of course that is depends on your MB but with the Ninja I can don't have to worry about that incase I want to use it with something else.
