There are a lot of arguments against any kind of minimum wage.

Arizona does not have a minimum wage.

How does it work compared to other states? Better, worse, same?

Minimum wage here is like $7.5. Sucks because we are only like 30 minutes from the next state, and their's is a lot lower, so they come here for jobs.

Isn't there a federal minimum wage - so no matter what the state wants - the federal min. wage overides it? Until recently - FL didn't have any min. wage laws - but the voters increased it by a dollar, and made it available to be adjusted yearly depending on the cost of living.

The federal minimum wage for covered, nonexempt employees is $5.15 per hour. The federal minimum wage provisions are contained in the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Many states also have minimum wage laws. In cases where an employee is subject to both the state and federal minimum wage laws, the employee is entitled to the higher of the two minimum wages.

Well wouldnt they just use States with minimum wage rates the same as the Federal use that law?

What he said doens't dispute that. The states have no min. wage law because the law is dictated by the Federal Government - they have no reason for min. wage laws when it's already been set to $5.15.

Why wouldnt they just fall under the states colored as blue then on that map?

Ummm - because the states haven't passed redundant laws like the blue ones.

Because blue states have laws that mirror the feds law. The no law states have... get this: NO LAW at all.

So Kansas's $2.65 a hour and Ohio's $4.25 hour minimum wage is just for show?

They are archaic laws overridden by federal law. Do you think people in Kansas and Ohio are actually being paid 2.65 and 4.25?

They're old laws that have never been dropped because they're superseded by federal law.
