How does the "Next Track" feature work on your keyboard?

I quickly and sadly discovered that it only worked with Microsoft's Windows Media Player.

But when I have several .mp3s loaded to play and I press "Next Track" it doesn't advance to the track that is next in the queue. Any idea how to correct this?

Do you have the same problem too?

Thanks.

I'm using the Logitech Cordless Elit Duo Keyboard. When playing mp3s though Windows Media Player. The Next Track hot key works just fine for me. I am using the software that came with the keyboard.

Depending on the keyboard you are using. Are you using the software that came with the keyboard? If not, then try installing it and see if it works.

That's strange. I have the Logitech Elite keyboard and it works fine with Windows Media Player, Winamp, Musicmatch, etc. I also had an older keyboard with the next track buttons and it worked fine with all those programs also. Maybe your keyboard needs drivers for the buttons to work? Did it come with an install disc?

Is anyone else able to get the "Next Track" hot key to work with anything besides Windows Media Player?

My problem could be that I have a Gyration keyboard. It does not have any drivers.

Also which version of Window Media Player are you using?

I'm using a MS keyboard with the next track feature, and it works just fine with WMP8. I don't use any other media player, so i don't know if it works on others.

I was just able to substantiate that I am a moron. I see that I had the "SHUFFLE" feature checked in WMP9. That is the reason it wasn't playing the songs in the order they were queued.

But I still can't get it to work with another player.

U gotta install the sw that came with the keyboard. Worked for me.

Which gyration do you have? The was not any keyboard software included with mine.

I have a MS Internet KB Pro and "next track" works with any of the players that I've used... WMP, Winamp, MusicMatch, and Rhapsody.

So, I think your problem is limited to your particular keyboard. I presume you've done all you can to find the manufacturer's website and drivers?

Yes, I have checked the site and several other troubleshooting boards without success.

Which version on Winamp are you using? I have ver. 2.81.

EDIT: I just tried "Next Track" with Real Player One and it advanced to the next track. My problem must be with the version of Winamp.

I use a Logitech Elite too, and had the same thing. Notice that when you press the 'media' key, Winamp doesn't even show up in the list. It recognizes WMP, PowerDVD, RealPlayer and Quicktime, but not Winamp.

As To Winamp - I think, it's a problem of the Wasabi engine winamp runs on, as the Next track didn't work. In my case not even on WA 3.0. Try Getting the new Winamp 5, it works with it (at least for me).

By the way, there's always a problem with that, on my comp the Media key stops working time to time, and it causes the logitech software to crash...

Last night I downloaded and installed Winamp 5.01 lite and the media hotkeys on my keyboard still don't work with this version of Winamp.

mine (ms internet kb pro) used to work fine with foobar 0.71, installed 0.75, all broke.

I had to remap the buttons to run programs, eg "G:\Program Files\foobar2000\foobar2000.exe /next" Works pretty well now

if nothing else, play around with girder (www.girder.nl). it's a pretty neat little program that might be able to pick up the keyboard commands and let you do what you want to do with them.

Does anyone know if earlier versions of Winamp are available for download anywhere? Maybe a different version (in particular 2.89) will work for me.
