I went to DL over Christmas. POTC only had one small drop. Fast pass rules 🙂 The Haunted Mansion - I'm not sure. I have some pictures I took with the digicam but it didn't come out too well. Just has to do with the projector I guess

You don't go to Disneyland expecting thrilling rides. You go there to ride on rides you've been on since a kid - Matterhorn, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Pirates, the big choo-choo that you go on when you get tired, etc.

I'm guessing you also go for the cute chicks working there? (There was this cute chick working the train - managed to get a pic taken with her 🙂 ) There was also 2 working this ice cream stand/shop but I didn't get to get my pics taken with her though

I usually go with a chick, so can't have too much eye-candy 🙁

You would have gotten their pictures taken if you saw their Dutch school girl outfits too. And I mean my picture taken with them, not standing from 20 feet away zooming in on their chest

Ok so I went to Disneyland on Sunday for the first time in 12 years. Nevermind the mind blowing fact the space mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean were closed (SM until 2005) I had a blast. More fun than I thought I would. Since I am older now than my last visit I've moved from mystical wonderment to trying to figure out how everything works. While riding on the Haunted Mansion ride we stopped in front of the mirrors that project images over your shoulder. I just figured, until then, that there were images from the other side of the mirror that moves at the same speed (on the same drive train) as the ride. When we stopped I was in front of the first, of three, mirrors and I noticed that I could see two carts in front of me by looking at the middle mirror at about a 45 degree angle. The ghost for that cart was still arranged where it should be, over the shoulder of the people in the cart. How do they do this? I know I'm missing something very easy but if what I thought happens, happened then the ghost for the third cart would have been sitting way in front of them (i.e. further down the track). Please help.

I learned about this way back in science class Freshman year of HS.

The mirrors are two-way.

On the other side of the mirror is a track, and on the track are carts that are lined up with the ones on your side. In each cart is a dummy painted with reflective paint, and lit with blacklight to glow.
Since it's dark, the dummy shows up as a translucent figure. It's just a reflection.

Same thign with the dancers. If you look closely next time you'll see that there's a big pane of glass in front of the dance hall. The actual dancing ghosts are dummies on rotating wheels right UNDER you, and you see their reflection.

Wow - that would be creepy to run the haunted mansion from the dummy's track side.
