How does the Antec 1650B compare to the 3000B?

I want a black case without a drive door. The 3000B would be my first choice but I am sure the door would drive me nuts. The Antec 1650B seems to be the best Antec case w/o a door. What are its disadvantages compared to the 3000B?

I live in Montreal, Canada and have not seen any of the popular alternatives from Evercase, Compucase or Chenbro in any of the local stores nor at any of the on line retailers. Antecs however are widely available.

The 1650 comes with a power supply but I could easily sell it.

I know nothing about the 1650B. However the 3000B is supposed to be the "minimalist" case that can lead to a very quiet system if you choose the correct parts. Doors annoy me greatly as well. I tried to see if I could handle a door, but it annoyed me so I ripped off the one on my superlanboy.

Is this the price range you are looking for? Or are you willing to shell out more dough for a more expensive case.

The SLK 1650 is just a cheap generic PC case. It's flimsy, cramped and poorly designed. If it didn't have the Antec-style front bezel on it nobody would give it a second glance.

I recently threw a brand new SLK1650 in the trash. I got it real cheap from SVC a few years ago but could never even bring myself to use it.

Denis54,

I looked at the SLK1650B and it looked okay to me. Yes, it is not as sturdy as a 3700BQE or a Sonata, but if you no not plan on frequently accessing the insides of your computer once it is assembled, I think it would be a solid choice. It has a good power supply (350Watt), a 120mm exhust fan, and (based on reviews)good internal air flow/cooling. I would definately consider this case if I were putting together a system for a family member or friend. However, I am constantly tinkering with my system, and upgrading components, etc., so I personally would choose something that is more easily accessible.

Another alternative to the SLK1650B might be the Antec SX635BII. It looks like a more sturdy case with easier access. Here is a link. SX635BII
